So, I'm waking up this morning thinking how peaceful it is .... walk into the kitchen and Ray is busily emptying the contents of the refrigerator into the trash - seems the dang thing decided to quit cooling. It wouldn't have been such a drama except that I only grocery shop every 2 weeks and I just did it 2 days ago

I have had trouble with this refrigerator since the beginning ... icemaker/water dispenser is STILL not working .... I never liked GE products - they make great motors but crappy appliances .... I'll take a Whirlpool anything anytime.
So ... the repair guys on his way out ... and so are we ... of about $200 in food. Good thing the freezer side didn't go.

I think we have Whirlpool. It's been good to us. The ice maker we have problems with maybe twice but nothing real bad. I have a back up mini frig for my beer.

Check with your home owner insurance. Some have food spoilage clauses for frig and freezers!

Did that for the '93 windstorm when we lost electricity for 3 weeks. Called the insurance co, filed my claim over the phone, had $250 check the next week.
