Something to try ...

Since there's been a lot of talk about poor marketing contributing to the demise of the XLR, just for fun I googled for XLR tv ads. Only found two and they were lame, to me (the "Elope" ad & one showing the car driving thru water - not sure how that showcases a convertible). One of the top three that popped up was the ad Chicago Dave's son did for a class (which was much better!).

I then searched Cadillac XLR on YouTube & found a Motor Week review of the XLR-V that gave some interesting info & some inaccuracies. Didn't get past that as I actually had things to do by that point.

Interesting travel back through time knowing what we do now...

The real "new XLR:". The C7

I learned from the BG head of HR that the build of the new C7 is "tight" on specs & "difficult." To me, it sounded very similar to the XLR build. Also were told that the C7 was very technical & complex but "we feel our dealers can handle it."

A Cadillac dealer friend of ours told us before he could sell XLR's, he had to pay $5,000 & go to a school in Florida to track the car & learn about it (I'm sure Bruce & others have more specific details on this).

Now, we just got an email informing us that "Only the most successful Chevrolet dealers across the country, meeting strict criteria for allocation of the hot new C7's, will be selling the redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Stingray when sales begin later this year. The 2014 Corvette Stingray coupe will be shipped to eligible dealers in the third quarter and record sales are projected. The Sales Academy is an extensive 1 ½-day training program, and before the Dealers can sell the highly sought-after Corvette they must first designate specialists in Stingray Sales and Service to attend the course at our facility."

I don't know if these types of things have always been part of selling Corvettes, but it sounds like the XLR was the beta model for much of the C7 program. I just wish they hadn't killed the XLR cause I still like it better!

After just touring the BG plant , then to see this! It's the 2nd picture I've see of a wrecked 2014 already!!

What's the story behind this one!?

What's the story behind this one!?

This was on Face book here the information they had posted :(
Here’s another 2014 Corvette Stingray that met its demise much too soon. Details on this crash are so far non-existent. We can only surmise that this Corvette w...as involved in a serious accident and may have been rolled. That is what happens when you give someone too much power and not enough skills. That is also why they have the road race courses and stuff like Gizmo does so you can take that power and put it to use in a controlled environment. The streets are not the place for driving like we would like to and you know when there are 30,000+ of these beasts out there there will be more wrecks etc. Just as long as they dont kill anyone but themselves I guess......

Our Caddy dealer invited us to a "New Owner Appreciation Clinic" for buying the coupe. Except we're going to make it into a "let's talk about XLR's" event for us :chuckle - try to get to know their XLR tech (they have the only one we've heard of in the area), & since they are pretty proactive, see if they'd be interested in helping to try to get local XLR owners together for drives etc.

I'm really keeping my fingers crossed on having some success in getting local XLR owners together.

I was playing with the camera a little this past weekend!

German engineering??!!!

Interesting humorous newspaper commentary - although the brand isn't mentioned in the article, I know the writer & her car is a VW "New Beetle." The article overall is amusing, but I found the reference to "numerous electrical glitches since purchase" most interesting. No, it can't be, it's German! Sounds like what most everyone says about American cars ...

ugg lesson learned i guess

I just got back from my long adventure. I had my sister take my car for a drive around the area a couple times a month. I guess she tried her hardest but when i went out to try and open the trunk. The trunk wouldn't open. I even tried the #2 fob. no such luck. Sop when my sister called today, she said she had the same problem. So she called the # on the window and they sent someone out right away. They told her that you need to drive these machines every other week or the :reddevil will get them. So i guess my christmas present to myself will be a battery tender. So then the next time i will be prepared. Anyway i think the other owner only bought maybe a 1 yr battery or this is the original battery that came with the car.:dunno:

Great to have you back on here Guy I hope your timely trip was AWESOME!
Down to catch up ! Lol ....

It was great. But when I got home, the next day I was planing on taking baby out. No such luck because of battery. So after waiting 2 days. She finally got to breathe. After jumping her, ran straight to dealership. Then went topless. Found out from my dealer friend, someone who owns a ranch, has a black v on a lift. He has several great rides. I think he's the same guy that he closed his business awhile back.
