Welcome to the Cadillac XLR Forums!

XLR Gathering in Colorado 2010

I have checked the forecast out as far as I could (still doesn't show the week we are there), but next week shows highs in the mid to upper 70's, with lows in the high 40's. Along with only a 20% chance of precipitation in any day. Hope in continues in the next week when we are there:):)

With the Midwest Caravan shrinking, due to cancellations and people leaving earlier for side trips; Cadillac Tech & I may set a new land speed record on the way!:laugh:

Uh-oh .... do I detect another new "club" forming???

Places to check out for meet and greet.

I've been looking on the internet at local restaurants in Colorado Springs for our meet and greet. Here are some links, check them out and give your input.

I think the Phantom Canyon Brewing Co. sounded interesting and they got high reveiws. It also has history if you read about them. You can also go to the last link I have supplied and check out restaurants yourselves and see if there is something else that catches your eye. There is reveiws on the last site I have provided of restauants in Colorado Springs. I am not from Colorado Springs but I am trying to research via the internet so, I can not speak for the places from personal opinion.

If there is to be a meet and greet people need to start speaking up. Where would you like to do it and which day Sunday or Monday? Input is urged. Also Phantom Brewery we can get reservations. It is very important that speak now or forever hold your peace. If I get no response I will just drop it.

I trust your judgement completely .... The Phantom sounds great .... I'll vote for Monday because everyone should be in, and the cars and us all cleaned up and ready to rock & roll by Monday ... Let's wear our new shirts! :rocker:

Great suggestions RA and Supa. Monday dinner @ Phantom 6:30 pm.

I hope everyone is thinking about what they want to see while in CS.

We will probably do our visit to Pike's Peak later in the week, like Thursday.
Air Force Academy on Monday.
Royal Gorge area on Tuesday.
Garden of the Gods on Friday.

We still need to work in a visit to Broadmoor and Old Colorado City. We are already out of time.

Sounds like a plan .... haha, you'll have to excuse me and Ray one day as we will be haunting a local casino ... :D .... I love it when a plan comes together ... :squint:! I love the places you have chosen ...

Found a local dealer that has some Michelin runflats in stock ... new tires on Monday .... dealer check up on Tuesday! Can't wait!

No casinos for us, I've found more places that we want to see! Like...Great Sand Dunes National Park; Salida, etc.

You guys sound like you are going to have a ball out in CO. Devin and I will be with you guys in spirit. We both wish we could have found a way to go. But maybe the next trip. We can't wait to see all of your pictures when you post them.

Did a little looking this morning. There is a Manitou Cliff Dwellings looks neat. :dunno:

They are an example of how some of the Indians lived, not far from Garden of the Gods. If you plan to spend a day without a lot of driving you could see both of them, the Kemp Sculptures, The Broadmoor and possibly a few more things. Always plenty to see and do without leaving town. Territory Days starts May 29th in Old Colorado City which draws a big crowd.

Great to hear, Ruth Ann!! See you soon and it will be :party:partyTime!!!

Hurray! It's a Green Light for me!!!!
See you all soon! :grouphug:

I'm dancin', I'm dancin!!:blue:

Our Group is Shrinking!!

I just received an email from Onalaska, that they may not make the trip due to their pets poor health. Perhaps if we send prayers for them, things may change.

We are also waiting for Photo Mom to change her mind and come along for the great time we will all be having!!!

I hope things work out so that they can make the trip.

I wish we could make it... sounds like you all are going to have SOOOOOOO much fun. Next year will have to be anything but the end of the month - Cindy's payroll is also part of the reason we're not able to make it.

I'm right there with you, Rod! Month end is my busy time as well. I sure wish I could go as well. I am definitely on for next year! This is such a fun group... hate to miss any opportunities to hang with them. :rocker:

It's certain now that Diane and I will not be able to make the trip to Colorado Springs this year. We were gone for two weeks and just got back a week ago today and our family pet, Sampson, was in very poor health when we returned. We have been nursing him back and he is doing much better, but we just can't leave him again for a week this soon. He is a 13 year old German Shorthaired Pointer and is a big dog and he is very old for his breed, but has been healthy up until now. We were really looking forward to driving our car up there and meeting everyone and we were going to go over to Diane's dad's house in Kansas after Colorado. Diane has already told her dad that we will not be coming and she will probably fly up to his house for a visit soon since we are not driving, he's getting to old to drive down here.

I know everyone will have a great time and we are looking forward to pictures during and after the trip. Everyone have a safe drive!

I'm sorry to hear about your dog. I know exactly what you mean about not wanting to leave them. I'm glad to hear he is getting better (we recently had to put our 16 year old husky to sleep a few weeks ago). I hope he continues to get better and is back to his old self soon.

We have a furry little guy who is on the older side too - and everytime we leave it gets tougher for both him and us - but we have a son in law who is nice enough to stay here while we are gone so it is much easier on all of us.

Just a quickie note .... we are doing our final packing today and just to let you know that the only thing we have packed is denim - so if ya'all go out to a really nice place, we won't be joining you .... this trip for us is longer than any of the other's we have taken and I guess since no one else says anything I must be the only one who doesn't know how to pack worth a darn! You'd think I would have learned something by now ... :pat:
