XLR Gathering in Colorado 2010

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

It was under construction when I first visited in 1966 and is still under construction now. At least you can make out what it is now. Save some extra time just to drive some of the great roads in the Black Hills area.

I first saw it in 1968 and met the artist, I think I read where he died and his son has been working on it since then. I would have thought by now it would have been finished. The Needles Hiway is a great drive.

Kent,

As I'm sure you have done; most of those roads are best on a two-wheeler!!!:):)

I need some help with my reservation!

I called all four Hampton Inns in the CS area and none of them have our group listed as being there 23-30 of this month.

I was also informed that this particular week is the Airforce graduation and the room rates will jump to $119.00 per day!

If anyone has made a deal with any hotels at a group rate, please let me know which one.

My plans are to check in 5-26-10 and checking out 5-29-10.
My OnStar phone #: 310-502-4188
My cell phone #: 310-890-4992

Thanks, Jack

Jack,

Check this link, it has the places we are all staying at. Everyone booked on their own--there weren't any deals when most of us decided, we just booked early and got good rates.

Xlr Gathering in Colorado 2010

Thank you FR and Chubby, I got my reservation through Hotwire.com at the Towneplace Suites just below Pikes Peek on Centennial Blvd.

I'll be checking in Wednesday afternoon 5-26-10.

What's the evening plans for that day?

Jack

I'm sorry to say but due to work (that dreaded word) complications and a change in our tech conference to the same week, we will not be able to make the Colorado trip. I have been trying to find ways of getting around all of this but owning your own company does have it's pitfalls. We have been looking forward to this for so long. Kris's back is getting worse also and we need to get her to Florida for her surgery asap. For that we need to come up with the $8,000.00 fee that insurance won't cover. So money and time are not on our side right now. We will so miss everyone because the trips are our only escape from reality.

Is this an April Fool's joke that you forgot to post on the 1st? Are you kidding me. :dunno:

That Sucks!!!! We will miss you guys, it just won't be the same.

Take care of our Kris. Will you be able to make it over here in September? Hope so.

Bob

It certainly won't be the same! We'll miss Tiffany's Dad, Missy Bling, and our other DD, Dirty Diana. Where's the crying emoticon?

:bawling::bawling::bawling:There you go Homegrown.

Just two weeks and I should start seeing happy faces inside XLR's as you all start rolling into Colorado Springs. Will be here before we know it.:wave::wave:

Lola is going in this week for her 'check up' for the road .... I love this part ... even the damn packing .... hoping Colorado weather will cooperate and that we don't hit snow / mtn rainstorms .....

Marc ... that is terrible news .... we will miss you two so much .... It's hard to imagine that you really won't be there. Please let us know when Kris is to go to FL .... and it's great news that your company is thriving in this horrible economy .... but sorry that it will cause you to miss this roadtrip. Ray was so looking forward to meeting Diana.

Well, sorry to say... we are not going to be able to make it to Colorado Springs after all. :bawling::bawling: We were really hopeful, but our finances are just saying "Ain't gonna happen this year". We already went on two big trips in as many months and we are planning one more in June to the Oregon coast (this one in the XLR). Really going to miss everyone... looking forward to next year's... wherever it may be!!!

Am really sorry to hear you and Cindy will not be coming to Colorado Rod. That makes two couples that will sorely be missed. Just won't be the same without you folks and Marc and Krissy being with the rest of us.

You know, the meet will be different this year - on many levels - and it seems like this whole year has presented more challenges (financially, weather-related, personal) than usual for many of us ....
In my 30's I would have probably thought that nothing should stop us ....
In my 40's I would have probably thought nothing is going to stop us ....
In my 50's I thought I'm not going to let this stop us ...
Now, in my 60's I'm thinking, Crap, I hope this doesn't stop us!

We will miss you Rod - your hugs and your wine ... lol ... but I get it.
Same with Missy Bling and Bob L. ... it is not easy to try to sit for hours when your back is on fire - makes it too hard to even pretend your having fun. Rod - you're lucky that you're doing financially pretty well, but I understand priorities now too (didn't used to always "get" that either - but now I do)

Unfortunately, we are paddling the same boat and some of you know that ... we will not have a definite answer on whether we can get out of here until Wednesday before we leave .... :pat: --- Hey, stuff happens.

I am packing and proceeding "as if" we are out of here .... I will not miss this roadtrip unless we absolutely have to. I have all my ducks in a row and am battling the damn 'which suitcase' issues already .....

My biggest concern is which casino should we visit first .... lol!

See you all soon!

Weather Forecast

I have checked the forecast out as far as I could (still doesn't show the week we are there), but next week shows highs in the mid to upper 70's, with lows in the high 40's. Along with only a 20% chance of precipitation in any day. Hope in continues in the next week when we are there:):)

With the Midwest Caravan shrinking, due to cancellations and people leaving earlier for side trips; Cadillac Tech & I may set a new land speed record on the way!:laugh:
