Just arrived home and thought I better post before someone else does the same thing as Bobo did to his car. DO NOT APPLY RAINX TO ANY OF THE PAINTED FINISH ON YOUR CARS. It will eat the paint. My last stop for the morning was at the detail shop for Red Noland Cadillac. Eric, the shop manager told me to have a bottle of 409 and a micro fiber cloth with me on the trip and when ever I stop to spray the bugs with the 409 and wipe them off with the micro fibre cloth. 409 will not harm the finish on the car. Rainx is a petroleum based product and it will eat right thru the clear coat and the paint. It tells you in the directions on the bottle not to get it on any painted surface. First Robin
To add to First Robin's post: I'm a huge fan of the Mr Clean-type sponges, but NOT for the car! I use them on pinball playfields but only before I plan on buffing them out with a polishing compound to remove the fine scratches they cause. I know they appear to be only "foam", but they are abrasive! It is fine to use on very hard surfaces (glass), but the manufacturer does not recommend them for use on softer surfaces (specifically, non-factory tinted glass or any glossy plastic surface).
