National Corvette Homecoming 7/14-7/16/11

I'm curious how we will be received by the staunch Corvette owners. Curious, not concerned.

A handful of Corvette owners might be ok with it, but most won't like it. So don't be surprised if you hear negative comments about the XLR's being there.

I was at a car cruise a few weeks ago (2500 cars-One XLR) and was talking to a few Corvette owners, one being a close friend of Joe's.

He was telling me that a few of them were going down and he also mentioned that Joe told him that there were a little over 200 Corvettes registered. I informed him that there were approximately 50 XLR's registered.

If this is factual this will be quite a showing for the XLR.

I would expect more than 200 Corvettes. Maybe not. That kind of ratio would be great!

I am used to the static from the purists. I rode a riceburner amongst all the Harleys in the 80s. Things are different now.

I booked in at the Holiday Inn. All of the block of rooms were booked and they wanted $130/$151 for THU/FRI. The AARP rate $105/$128.

Can't wait.

Super!! Can hardly wait to meet you; it's great to finally put a face to the forum name!!

Six of us met this guy on the way to RII in 2007. We all 'donated' to the Kentucky economy.:lol:

Thanks, I think I will get there on Thursday now. Experience with similar events tells me that I will learn the most after hours from the seasoned owners while having a few adult beverages. I'm curious how we will be received by the staunch Corvette owners. Curious, not concerned.

I must say "Welcome to the Bluegrass" to everyone as they come to my home state. Just so you know, there are many dry counties in the Commonwealth that some of you may not be used to.

Here is what to watch for:

not to imply that anyone would consider doing anything illegal :chuckle

I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful trip.

I can't wait.

National Corvette Homecoming

Unfortunately, Sharon and I have had something come up which is going to make it impossible for us to attend the National Corvette Homecoming next month in Bowling Green. I have an invitation to the Touch of Class meet and greet thursday evening ( for two) that I will give to someone that didn't get one. I will mail it to the first person that PM's me with their name and address. I also have the paid confirmation for the reunion and the shows if they will honor them. I hope everyone has a blast.

We did the same ... and so did JetBoy .... THERE ARE attendees who did not receive the VIP invite .... I will let you know if I get anymore requests for them ... That is VERY nice of you - but I am sorry that you won't get to go ..... I know how you feel :bawling:

PM sent, I hope I'm first.

Thanks for your offer. Sorry for your change of plans.

I have made the same offer and it still stands, anyone want the registration and ticket to the party for two just contact me and I will mail them to you.

Robert ... what did you receive for your 'registration?' ..... I only got the VIP invitation which we gave away, and for sure if there is a way to give the registration as well, we'd be happy to do that ... I did contact the registrar when I knew we wouldn't be going, knowing that there would probably be no refund, but someone should be able to use that fee. :squint:

RA, I received just the same as everyone that registered early, an email confirmation that I registered. I knew when I registered and charged it to my credit card that it was non refundable. When I posted that I was not going I was contacted by someone on the forum that I met last year asking for it. I emailed a copy of the confirmation to him and have never heard a word from him since. After that the invitation came in the mail so both are up to grabs for anyone that wants them and has the good manners to say thank you as they are free and I would like for some one to be able lto use them. If someone would like them just send me an email with your address.

You are the first and they will be in the mail tomorrow, enjoy yourself and say hello to every one, they are a great bunch of folks.

JIm (Silverstreak)
Thanks Jim I appreciate the gesture. This will certainly add to the trip for me. I can't wait!

Hey Robert, that was me that ask you about your registration and I did thank you and even offered to reimburse you for any costs you incurred but you didn't reply back to me.
I guess you didn't get my reply.

Jack

Correct on your part Jack, I have received no communication from you by email direct to me, forum pm, so forth umtil a voice mail a few minutes ago on my home phone. It is now obvious you did not type in my email address correctly. I am sending you a pm through the forum with the correct direct email address. Glad you left a voice mail cluing me in. Thought maybe you had made that last big trip into the unknown.

VIP Invite

Jack, I just put the invitation in the mail to you, I already emailed you a copy of my Registration so you should be all set. Have a safe trip and a good time in Bowling Green, hope you find a place to stay.

Thank you Robert, I'm working on the "place to stay" now.

VIP Reception dress

Do you think the VIP reception is a "coat and tie" event? The invitation says optional and I had not planned on packing a tie or jacket for this type trip. So just how optional is being implied? It can mean different things. I've searched for online pictures of past events, but found none.

Suggestions anyone?

JMO, but I would think a pair of khaki's and sport shirt is OK. That's what I'll be bringing. It will be jeans and t-shirts the rest of the time for me!!
