National Corvette Homecoming 7/14-7/16/11

JMO, but I would think a pair of khaki's and sport shirt is OK. That's what I'll be bringing. It will be jeans and t-shirts the rest of the time for me!!
That is what I was thinking too. At least there will be two of us "underdressed".

Do you think the VIP reception is a "coat and tie" event? The invitation says optional and I had not planned on packing a tie or jacket for this type trip. So just how optional is being implied? It can mean different things. I've searched for online pictures of past events, but found none.

Suggestions anyone?

I'm thinking business casual... I'm sure nobody but the bigwigs will be in "coat and tie", especially in Kentucky in July!!

I think there will be a majority of people not in a suit and tie.

Saturday evening dinner options

Dave Chrisley & the members of the Bowling Green Assembly Corvette Club have invited all of the XLR owners to join them for dinner @ Wha-Bah's in BG, Saturday evening after The Homecoming's awards ceremony. You also have the option to stay @ the Holiday Inn for the Taco Dinner following the awards ceremony. Good food no matter which one you choose. The group going to Wha-Bah's will head back to the Holiday Inn for the live music that evening.

Photo Girl has been planning the photo locations for you guys during the Homecoming. **WEATHER PERMITTING

4. XLR group photo @ The NCM.

You guys will have to help her with the staging of the cars on Thursday & Friday. I will not arrive until Friday night.

Weather? Sunshine and cooler in the early mornings. Hot and sticky in the afternoons with a slight chance of a passing thunderstorm late. Just after dark is perfect topless weather. Heavy dew at night (after midnight).

It is SW Kentucky in July.

Next question? :blinzel:

I love to watch west coast people in a good old mid-west thunderstorm. They think it is Armageddon! Pay back for them laughing at me freaking out in an earthquake.

The confrimation the I printed out says "Reunion and XLR Show begins Friday, July 15 at 8:00 AM". No mention of when this ends. I assume this will be outside in the parking lot. Is anyone planning on bringing a large umbrella or some other sort of cover to keep out of the sun or do you just plan on leaving the cars parked and walking around and going inside for a break at times?

That is a good point. That may be a good point to present to Joe. However we are not alone in the fact that bringing our own shelter is just about impossible because of our luggage capacity. I guess I could ship something to/from the hotel.

Does anyone know for sure it is outside?

On your trip to NCH: If you're coming from the North on I-65, be aware of construction and lane closures. They are doing road work on 65, between Elizabethtown and Bowling Green. KY Traffic has been a little hokey lately..... They had 20,000 people get stuck in a 5 hour traffic jam outside a NASCAR race over the weekend...:pat:

I hope you all have a great visit to KY!! I wish I could join you, but I have a Scuba trip the 15-19th...

Hey Guys looking forward to seeing and meeting all of you when you are at the show. Yes we will have Kentucky weather but our ABC weather man says for July we are looking pretty good.Don't forget Thursday is the Golf outing, and the Touch of Class that evening at 6pm. I am as excited about this years show as I have ever been. Having YouAll come to party with us is Fantastic. And from now on the invitation is open each and every year. Also on the Corvette side Thursday night is full of Firsts and Surprises. So be ready to hopefully have some Fun.Yes since we are not judging your cars this year, park them, set with them, or yes walk all over the place inside and outside. We have the best variety of vendors both inside and outside that we mayby have ever had. So yes if you have a tent use it, if not go where it is cool. Safe trip and see you Thursday.

For clarity sake, the traffic fiasco at the Kentucky Speedway had nothing to do with Kentucky DOT. They actually postponed work on I-71 until after the race. It was the fault of the track management not being able to park the cars. That is why those who got stuck in traffic can use their tickets for any remaining Sprint Cup race.

Thanks for the heads up on the I-65 construction. I may take a different route now. Sorry you will not be joining us.

It is with a saddened heart that I post Supa & I will not be making the trip to NCH. Marion's mother passed away suddenly this morning at 60. We will certainly miss our regular group and the chance of meeting new friends. We will be thinking of you all and hope there are tons of pictures posted for us to enjoy.

I have a VIP pass that I will be sending with Madmac & MTRocket if anyone needs it. Again, hope everyone has a wonderful time, has great weather and enjoys meeting new friends!!

If anyone needs a room , I just cancelled ours at the Courtyard, so it may be available.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours. Maybe we can meet the next time around.

Won't be the same

Cubby & Supa, we sure will miss you both this week in Bowling Green. It won't be the same without you guys. I know how much you were looking forward to this event. We'll all be thinking of you. See you soon.

So sorry to hear about Supa's mom. We will all be missing you this week.
