Welcome to the Cadillac XLR Forums!

Do you see XLRs??

I saw XLR last Saturday headed to the coast on 92 hwy west. A male driver with a female passenger driving with the XLR top down in a light brown-ish color. I was going around 45 mph and so where the person driving the XLR, so I didn't get a good look for we were coming around a tight turn on the hwy. My guess is they were headed to Sam's Chowder house near Princeton By The Sea. That place is always packed with customers.

I saw two at the dealer today. One was mine being serviced, the other belonged to the owner of the dealership. What was cool is that they were parked right next to each other. These cars are certainly head turners. Everyone notices them. I am in Davenport Iowa now so they are even more rare than before. The shop attendant said that he has only seen three in the last three months. One of which is mine, the other belonged to the owner of the dealership. The last one was a red one and I have not seen around.

I drove my car into work after picking it up and again people's head turned. It is great having a car that is so specialized that people either have not seen it or see them so rarely that they are amazed by them.

Does anyone know if the XLR met GM sales and profit goals?

XLR vs. Corvette

I doubt it... otherwise why would they have stopped manufacturing them???:dunno:

Probably because the XLR has more bang for the buck than than the 'vette; this would have had a distinct effect on Corvette sales and why would GM, in their infinite wisdom, want to sacrifice the thousands of potential Corvette buyers to placate a few hundred XLR buyers?
Let's face it: money talks, esthetics walk.

Whole watching Motörhead garage on velocity Chanel last night saw that they were working on this. They were doing an alignment segment. It was on the last couple minutes of last nights show. It's not just expensive cars they stop buying when when bottom dropped out of the economy look at all those million dollar homes around DC area that are still sitting empty! When economy stops so does the sales!

I don't ever see XLR's but I see lots of expensive cars in OC, CA

I think it was 07 which was our second Rendezvous that we had a question and answer session after the meal at the restaurant. I cornered the guy ahead of marketing the XLR and asked him why we don't see but a few XLR commercials or why more cars aren't being sold besides the prices being to high? His answer was, and I quote, "Our budget is too small and I keep fighting for more money but they won't spend it on this car and haven't got any idea why not." That's my story and I'm stuck with it.

Xlr sightings

Took my baby in for a tire sensor problem. Guess what I saw? Found out that
some guy/gal in Chicago didn't want his baby anymore. So my dealership here in st Augustine bought his xlr and had it shipped down from Chicago.I'll have to post pics later when I'm home but just let your mind wonder. It is a supercharged v series infrared mint condition ( no marks whatsoever). Not even broken in yet. Just a infant with not even 8400 miles on her. I think the actual miles were 8374 miles. Jeez how could you give your baby up like that. Get this the price is $53,991. Yes guys and gals this is a super steel of a deal. I had to take several looks at the sticker that they made up. My jaw dropped and I think I left drool marks on the car.

Great price

That's what I like to see, someone not afraid to put a price on it and stick to it. You wouldn't want to know what my price is for my 06-V or you would die laughing. Hey I don't have to sell and they will pay if they want it. I already have been offered $48,000 a month ago and have others standing in line but they don't want to pony up.:(

Yeah all day today, I was even asked the question. Do u want to sell? Nice car... Even the salesman asked me if I wanted to trade up to this v model. I simply said no, thanks, no. Yes I told the salesman jokingly, if I had the money and space, then yes I would keep my base unit but also take the supercharged v off the showroom floor for them.

take a ride

Take the car out and take it through the gears to 70mph. You will go back and make the trade. I know, I had an 04 and gladly gave up the ACC for HP,.......... any day!:dunno:

ok as promised here are the pics of this beautykey fob.jpg
car v 1.jpgwood grain.jpgphoto.jpgsticker.jpgv tire.jpgWhen i saw the milage of 8374 my :jaw:and at the price. Of course they didn't have it in the window. but on his little typed out paper $53991
Alright for some reason these are upside down except for the window sticker. If i may without getting in trouble this fine machine is located at field cadillac in st augustine fl th salesman is jeff nelson. I did however leave him one of my cards and told him let thenew owner know that with this car comes a free membership (just register) to the xlr-net website. I shouldve just stuck it in the glove box or somewheere just encase e's not the one that sells it. I also told him about the gathering at BG. He said he might run up and check it out.

The only thing is i have adaptions on my car. So i can't run it through the gears. I would even be afraid i would wreck it if i could even drive it. the base is just about too much hp for me. hey just come on down to st augustine and test it out.

I saw a black XLR last Friday heading to the coast. The owner waved as we passed with my jaw dropping to the floor board. LOL. I gave the guy a weak wave back because I was in shock seeing another XLR on the road. I was actually looking for the high beams to flash him, but grabbed the wrong one thinking I was in the other car. Anyway, if you're here on this forum; sorry for not getting my hand up faster. This XLR is new to me and seeing another on the road is shocking to say the least. ;)

Just reminded me that last Saturday late in the afternoon Wendy and I was heading North on Rt 97 coming back from the Chesapeake City Car Show past a Red XLR heading south on Rt 97 in a small town of Union Mills Md between Littlestown PA & Westminster MD. Don't know if your are on here but I did get to blow the horn as we passed by! I think it had the old style grill like my 05 not mesh! Was any of you over this way?

Last night i received a email from the salesman saying that they dropped the price of this car to $49,981. So just out of curiosity I asked him what he would give me if i traded my Base XLR in for the V. He said the kbb on my car in excellent condition is $24,540. (Well i looked up mine on KBB and they came back with a little over at $24,666) In his reply, he said they were willing to go to $26,000. Since they have seen and know how i keep my cars clean. Total difference would be $26,308 out the door. That includes dealer fees, tax and tag transfer. I'm still :drool:ing over this car. I even went to the registry and printed out a window sticker of all the different things that the V has that my base doesn't. But the only thing is. i don't think its the right XLR-V. But oh well.
Like i said. I wish i had the money, and the space. Because I would love to have both my base and this V :bash:

My only sighting of an XLR was also shocking; it too was black and it's the only other XLR that we have ever seen, on the road or otherwise. We are often surprised to even see Corvettes on the road cause they're fairly scarce, but XLR's seem to be non-existant in this area. I can perhaps understand not seeing any in the wilds of South Jersey, but not seeing them in California is a real surprise.
We are a unique group of car owners aren't we?

Interestingly, I think the last time I saw one moving was three months ago when I was in Chicago. Even there people wonder what it is. They ask what year it is and think that it is brand new (I try to keep it really clean).

Also because the car is out of production and the body style still looks like the current Cadillacs (sharp edges) I think the car is somewhat timeless.

I think that as Cadillac goes to a more round style that this will change. People will recognize that it is an older verhicle.

However, if Cadillac never makes another version of the XLR or a suitable replacement then I think these cars are sure to become collectors Items.

Much more so than the Allante. :rocker:

I'm still trying to get the word out on this car, whoever purchases it will have a great time owning this. Just wish it was me. But then i'm glad i have one (sad though that isn't this V) This particular one fields cadillac is in the registry. But they also have another one listed too. this other one is a blue steel 06 #353. But i havn't seen this one at the lot.
I was told buy someone else though. That there is a black one at a used car dealer about 1/2 hr away. He said it was a tuxedo like. I'm guessing black with a white or silver hood? [TABLE="width: 100%"]
