Welcome to the Cadillac XLR Forums!

Do you see XLRs??

Yes I agree. Even the old Maserati looks like the Chrysler Le Barron. Which looks like the allante.

I have seen the Maserati Chrysler collaboration (lebaron)..interesting. Must not of sold many though. I liked the opera window. What was the name of that car?

Are you sure your looking at a xlr? A allante looks like a Chrysler lebaron to me. I also think the proportions on a xlr are more appealing. I don't see it.

The LeBaron was a cool car. Especially the 92's however, the XLR and Allante do have similarities and it appears that they have the same proportions. The Cien and XLR have similarities, but the Cien and Allante do not. I would agree that the XLR is a composite of the Cien and the Allante. Interestingly, it is just like me and my two brothers. I look more like my older brother than my younger brother does; and I also look more like my younger brother than my older brother does If you lined us up you can definitely see how we are very much related. However just looking at my older brother and younger brother it is harder to see.

However the new XLR concept and the Cien concept look completely related. They do not look anything like the Allante.

GM please build the new XLR concept. Also offer existing XLR owners a 50% discount if they trade in their existing XLR's for the new XLR (One can dream) :blinzel::twist:

I had a 92 white convertible with white top and gray interior. Very cool car. It had the bay doors that covered the lights. I'm sorry I let it go.

Okay, back to the XLR. I hope the new one (if they make it) is capable of being a hard top convertible. It does not seem like it from the foreshortened back end.

Also the only XLR I have seen today is mine. It is in the garage because it is raining.

Mine is in the shop getting her drivers side mirror repainted. Look at a topic I started way back.

The Chrysler-Maserati as it was called was really the Chrysler TC. Some think the TC stood for turbo charged (but that is just speculation). It came with a 2.2 L turbo charged engine. A friend of mine had one and she really loved it. She said at the time she wanted to buy one she had to pay top dollar. You could only get them at special dealers (I think the one's designated "5-Star") and there were only 300 of those in the country. My friends exact words were "they were selling like hot cakes". Total production of the TC started from 1989 to 1991 and there were approximately 7300 units sold. The car was never meant to be a large seller, just a halo vehicle to increase the prestige of Chrysler. Those cars sold for around $37000.00 in the 90's! Wow that was really expensive for a domestic car and a car that looked very much like the LeBaron. That was one of the car's problems. It really looked like a specialized LeBaron. The LeBaron had a small V6 that put out 180 hp whereas the TC had 200 hp. Although the finishes were better in the TC, the things like carpeting and leather on the doors was the same. The TC did look like the Allante and was about $15000.00 less. Overall, I don't know if the car really helped Chrysler. Perhaps it did because it created a buzz about having the Maserati engine and "design" but at the time I also thought that it seemed like a very strange combination or unlikely paring because Chrysler was not really associated as a luxury marque at that time. However, the paring of Cadillac with Pininfarina seemed to me to be appropriate because Cadillac sysbolized luxury. Also the Allante was a completely different car then anything Cadillac had in the United States. Whereas the TC seemed like a reworked LeBaron. However, to be fair, some of the TC's came in both a manual transmission. This in the days when manual transmissions were not on American cars.. Chrysler would later go on to distinguish itself by creating the frist ever production hot rod in the Prowler. That was truely its halo vehicle.

Now getting back to Cadillac the Allante and the TC did look very much alike in the front. However they differed in the back or rear of the car and there is why overall the Allante and the XLR look similar whereas the XLR and the TC do not.

Whew! I'll bet you though for a moment this was a Chrysler forum

Also still no XLR sitings today.

There's always been stick shift on American cars? I have a 93 mustang in my garage that came with a five speed. Same with the 80's,70's,60's. Manual cars go all the way back to good old Henry.

Chrysler distinguished itself in the 90's with the viper, then a cool car the prowler but I don't think the performance was there with it. Just my opinion.

I agree, but I don't believe performance was what the Prowler was about. It was pretty much all about the coolness of the automobile... JMO

There is no vehicle that Cadillac or anyone else could produce that would result in me trading in my XLR for one. My XLR isn't going anywhere.

I agree in a way. That I wouldn't trade in my xlr. The only way I would sell this is when the day came where (like my uncle said with his 99 vette) I can no longer get in and out of it.

If your XLR isn't "going anywhere", you are not going to enjoy it very much , though they do look good just sitting. Actually I feel just like you! I know of a couple people that traded for a cts-v and no doubt like the cts and it power, but as for me, if I can't have both I will only have the xlr.

Most definitely! It was about the coolness and uniqueness of the vehicle. Also the Prowler is actually a 5.8 second (0-60) car and sold for around $75K if you wanted the one that the dealer had. However, if you ordered one and were willing to wait you could get it for $55/$60K.

Okay, back to the XLR (Sister of the Allante :chuckle) the only one I saw today was the same one I saw yesterday, which is the one in my garage.

Still waiting for the rain to stop/weather to break.

I got my XLR because the owner traded it and a one year old 400 series Lexus in for a CTS-V. They had the XLR almost 5 years, but only kept the V 2 years before trading it in. Go figure. I can understand it though - the dealer tried to lure me into the V when it was traded in, but since it didn't have the Recaro seats and had the cheapest tires possible, the ride was like sitting on a skateboard.

Their loss, my gain on the XLR!

I probably need to somewhat clarify this.

Cadillac might produce a another specialty vehicle in the future that I would purchase, but I won't be selling my XLR or trading it in. It's a keeper and part of the "permanent collection", along with my 66 GTO, 76 El Camino, 77 FXE-1200 and 89 Cameo.

I DO enjoy driving my XLR, it went to Asheville in 2011, to PA in 2013 and is going to BG this year. Looking forward to many more years of XLR get-togethers!

Yes, like I said in a previous post or this one. There will be no way i plan on selling mine. Unless I get to the point where I can no longer get in and out of her

Hollywood in Ontario Canada????

Hollywood sighting in Ontario Canada of all places. Member 'Hollywood' Kevin attended the St. Catherines Engine Plant annual car show today in his pristine 07 Passion Red XLR. This show is open only to vehicles that have GM engines. We attended in our 65 Riviera but Kevin & I had a good chat. Unfortuantly we had to leave early so I snapped this pic on the way out with my cell phone (he was not at his car at the time).
