For those of you wondering, below is a quick shot from this morning on our way to Cars and Coffee with the ODBCii connected and running the DashCOmmand on the AppRadio. I think it's totally cool :D

That's way cool! A lot better than dragging your Tech 2 around with wires dangling on your feet (Why did they put that connector there anyway?). And a lot easier to read while you are driving.

It does look nice, but a Tech 2 is not required for this. Look into the phone app called Torque. I use it with a OBDII to bluetooth bridge. Gives performance specs and most all car data including trouble codes.

...I think someone is confused. The pic I posted is using my bluetooth ODBii unit and an iPhone app called DashCommand displaying on the AppRadio, but Torque is another good app. As far as the odbii connection right between your legs...yeah very inconvenient. I have a right angle odbii extension cable I bought for a few $ on Amazon I can use if I am running a wired system like a Tech2 for programming etc.

Because there is a rule that the connector is within a short distance of either the brake pedal or the throttle pedal, I forget which, "to make it easy to find".

Not confused at all. My point was that this information can be displayed conveniently and wirelessly with out a Tech 2 or changing out the head unit.

I have compiled a part list and just can't help but think I'm missing something, here it is for review.
Scosche interface GM28SR
Scosche harness GM 28-CL2
Scosche harness GM 28-29H
Pioneer CDIH202 HDMI interface cable
Lightning digital AV adapter
Pioneer AppRadio 4 SPH-DA120
Am I missing anything??

Did you get the antenna adapter?

I already have one from a previous project, but I did go ahead and get a dash installation kit, not sure if I'm needing it or not.

Which did you get? I was having a hard time finding one that I was reasonable sure would work. AL_Jazz mentioned a Metra one but there are a bajillion models and none of them mention the XLR.

Hm, interesting. Looks different than the one Al_Jazz used… let me know how it goes!

The radio installs using the factory basket and the only install kit needed are filler panels for the left and right sides. There are several that should work depending on the look you want to achieve. Mine was installed using a Metra Cadillac kit.

Do you happen to have the model code for the kit you used?

I also used a thin HDMI cable with hinged ends making it easier to install behind the radio and in the console. I am quite curious to see how it all goes for you. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or need pics.

I don't have the model :( I have a slight advantage of being able to go back into the distribution warehouse and look at all of them until I find something that looks like it will work for what I need. I only used two parts out of this kit....the filler panels to each side which bolted directly to the sides of the radio and then the whole unit into the factory cage.

Ok that narrows it down at least, I know not to look for something with a full trim ring…

by the way, does the Siri stuff use the car's built-in mic or does it use the Pioneer one?

Siri uses the Pioneer mic and really sounds good on the other end. The 95-8202 looks promising and this image looks more like the one I used, but can't find a model.
