The Weather Channel

Mswaim .... there! I see it! The sun is peeking through now .... !

Merry Christmas .... kiss the flamingos for me

I bet that's really pretty!

It is pretty, all the trees are like shimmering silver. In my over forty four years of living in Colorado I don't remember having a day like today where the fog didn't lift, really wierd, and gloomy.

Rain, rain...go away!

We saw the pictures of the flooding and mudslides in California tonight on the news, unbelievable!!! Some of the areas had received over 24" of rain! I hope all of you westcoasters are OK. The storm is makining it's way East. It may bring us another snow storm for Christmas.

We are watching the news as well - trying to figure out where some of those places are in the LA area ... as near as we can figure those slides are at the base of where the fires were - without the shrubbry to hold the soil, the water just washes right down and brings mud, homes, whatever right along with it ... it's a very hilly area.

Here in San Diego, the same ol' things are flooding ... we have little to no gutters to take care of rain .... so water backs up onto the streets until it can all move down to the ocean ... The worst thing I have seen is that the Charger Stadium is flooded so the Poincietta Bowl game is forcing them to act fast in getting it ready. This rain is weird - when it rains ... it rains HARD, but we have the sun peeking in and out ... For those who have been to San Diego, you might remember that Mission Beach Blvd floods a couple of times a year ... It doesn't make any sense, this drainage problem has been a thorn for years - I don't know why the City doesn't 'do' something - we don't get rain very often, but when rain comes like this it's always the same old drama. Mission Valley still floods almost EVERY time it rains ... it's a poorly designed system and there never seems to be a Bond to take steps to change it .... Oh! But there's going to be a new zillion dollar libray built downtown.... :pat:

Can't believe the lala state is still spending $$$$$$!!!! The debt isn't already high enough??? GEEZ!!!!!

The rain has finally moved through .... I wish you could see the INCREDIBLE rainbows that have followed .... Amazing. :rocker:

They showed the stadium on the news here this morning. WOW!! If they don't get it cleaned up in time I think NAVY is going to have the advantage! :chuckle:chuckle:chuckle

Merry Christmas to all our forum friends!!!

Wasn't that something? ...... Just to set the scene for you a little .... the stadium is in Mission Valley - a valley that sets btw two very small but hilly areas ..... running east/west along side of the stadium is what they call The San Diego River (you can laugh here because most of the year it is either dry as bones or a trickle of water) .... so, the water runs down the sides of those hills and trys to make it's way to "the river" ... but, there are things in the way .... like parking lots, stadiums, huge shopping bldings ... like a Costco, Ikea, etc.... again ... very poor planning ... but NO ONE around here ever thinks about things like RAIN .... so, every so often, when Mother Nature dumps her fury - until the water can find a way to get to the River to get to the ocean - parking lots and surrounding areas hold water until it can drain. The most stupid part is that 'they' built a road (not a bridge) that runs over the top of the River in that area and that area floods right off of the freeway ... and then we have the idiots who think they can drive through the waters ... and then of course they get stranded and our all ready busy emergency crews have to 'rescue' them ....
Don't worry, that water is probably all ready gone - as of this morning they had sold 51,000 seats ....
It is going to be a tough game to root for .... We love State (most all of us have either graduated from there, or our kids have) - and we LOVE our military .... the Navy is especially dear to us ... It's going to be a good game for us .... heck, I'll probably even watch it!

Sun is out today. We are suppose to be in the 50's by New Years Eve. Crazy weather.

We may need to head north and join you just to warm up a bit. Calling for a hard freeze here tonight. Gee, this is not what I signed up for....the Orange juice is going to be chilly in the AM

40's here today... -7 for New Years Eve - BRRRRRRR!!!
Think it's better than what what the Northeastern states are getting, though...

Suppose to get up to 35 today here. Woo Hoo. Waiting for those 50's by Friday. I hope. :D

Ray is going outside to work on the ark. ;)

I hope the Ark can float in MUD, from the tv news it looks pretty bad, sure hope they get the mud cleaned out of the inlets for the storm drains before the next deluge.
