when i am driving and go over small or large irregularities in the road way, i hear a little squeak which sounds like it coming from behind the driver's seat. the dealership has tried (at least 4 times) to find and eliminate it but to no avail. does anyone else have this issue? if yes, how was it alleviated? thanks, bob

I don't have a squeak, but I have a clatter behind me... I have yet to find where its coming from

Sometimes I hear a "squeak" coming from my driver's seat - it is when I have my seat too far reclined, the leather squeaks against the side. Moving the seatback up seemed to eliminate it. I'm 6'2" and tend to have the seat all the way back - so I have to be careful on having it too far reclined. Hope that helps. Good luck. :dunno:

I've noticed that when my V has to sit in direct sun for a significant period of time (2+ hours... and I attempt to avoid this as much as possible), it tends to "pop" a few times the first few miles driven... kind of like a settling action related to expanding & contracting.

Not particularly related to your issue, but thought I'd share, nonetheless.:)

Noise

I chased a noise coming from behind me and then found the fabric of the shoulder portion of the shoulder/seat belt rubbing against the leather on the seat above my left shoulder creating the squeak. Haven't fixed it yet. Until I do, I just pull the belt down or change the seat back angle a fraction.

hard top squeak

thanks to those who responded to my inquiry of yesterday. i do not believe it is the seat belt nor the seat rubbing as i have tried pulling the belt, moving the seat, etc. the xlr-v technician believes, as i do, that it somewhere in the top. again, thanks for your responses and i will try them all again, bob

When the top is up I noticed a squeak too! It is the seat back against the back wall.
Two solutions: Either crank up the music :rocker:
OR tilt the seat back forward just a bit more than all the way back!

thaks Sandy. i am a collector also. what other great cars do you have?

I also have noticed a rubbing, chaffing but it is from the seat. These cars arnt designed for a taller person. I don't want to scare you but I remember reading about a person complaining about a squeaking noise coming from the area rear of the seats. They found it to be some structural frame part or bracket that is located on the top side of the I believe pass. gas tank. I forgot where i read but they said it was a known problem with the xlr and welding solved the problem. I hope this isn't your problem but maybe bringing it up to them they can at least eliminate it. GOOD LUCK

If you check out my online albums on this site you will see most of them. Click on my name here, then 'view public profile' then on the right side, under 'albums' click 'all albums'....... then snoop away!

I need to update the albums as we actually just sold our 69 Buick wagon last week and 3 days later bought a 64 F100 pick up truck: the first blue oval in our collection in 20 years! My hubby & I are both avid car nuts! :willy_nilly:

So tell me about your collection! (I did not see albums posted!)
