Service AFS in DIC.....

Trying to get some help for a fellow XLR owner in my area. He purchased a 2008 Platinum Edition XLR a few months back and has been having issues with dead batteries. Recently he went to his garage to take his XLR out and the car would not start and he saw 2 messages in the DIC the first was "no fob recognized" and the second was "service AFS". I personally have never experienced the "service AFS" warning, and I am trying to find out what AFS means. This warning only appears when the battery is dead. I did a search her on the forum and came up empty, also did a google search and could not find any info. I do know that most of his issues are more than likely due to a faulty battery and he needs to keep a trickle charge on the car when not in use over long periods of time. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Later found this means AFS is disabled & needs service (p. 3-71 of '08 manual)
