My XLR/V(s)
Not yet!
I know a hot topic with XLR owners is the lack of parts availability because GM no longer has some parts left in stock.

What are the most common parts you have found that are out of production and nearly impossible to find? I already know about the headlight and tail light assemblies.

Hate to say it may come down to buying a well Bodied car as spare parts. I,m the owner of a XLR V 06 7800 miles on registry.sorry that's all I got as a long time member of this post. This question Has been around for years sorry to say.....jerz...

Here's the list. Just go back to the thread discontinued parts.
I've had quite a few PMs regarding missing parts, which prompted me to start a list.

The following parts are currently not available from GM as of the post date. There may be other parts not listed. Feel free to add any other parts you can identify to this thread and I'll try to keep it updated.

Note: SMC has some obscure parts for sale. Sorry for the ugliness of the list. All column spacing between the parts and part numbers vanished when posted.

That's why I stopped driving her, ran her under a shrink gun, and boxed her up. So now she's displayed nicely

Yet, makes them even more rare doesn't it? Yet not comforting to consider any kind of potential damage. Ugh. When driving Goldie my wife always asks me why I am always glued to surroundings including the rear view mirror. :( This is why.

That's why I own a pristine 06 V showroom with only 7800 miles on it when I drive it, I know I drive a truly unique American vehicle that will never be duplicated to sell it would be ridiculous I have no need for the money I don't need reason other than I own it. After driving a truck for 40 years I said someday before I retired I would own one I accomplished my goal. One last thought if you own one keep it someday the investment will be a great return memories times friends acquaintances and it gets you where you want to be in style that's what it's all about thanks jerz

Yep me too. Mine hasn't event touched the sand. Well maybe once but that was only on dry land. The actual beach was 500 - 1000 ft maybe. I try and keep her clean but these last 2 wks rain has been in the forecast. She's in desperate need for a bath.

Mine is a 06 base and had her since 2012. She only had 20758 miles on her. Now she has just 53942 and still looks brand new.

I attend local car shows and cruise ins. I either get people asking me is that a new car, will you think of selling, are these still in production. Just to name a few. I've even met people that say they have had these cars. One person asked me why not just get a vette. I say vettes you see all over place. I've had ppl look and and they've almost broken their neck because the turn around so quickly. I've even been stopped at a light and had someone ask me if it's a new one or do they still make em

Hi Hawkeye, : )

Me too. I have had people stop dead in their tracks walking past it in the cross walk at a stop light, and just stand there in the street and stare at it. Then, "What Is That? It Is Beautiful!" Me: "Thanks. It's a Cadillac : )".

When I decided to get a sports car I had considered a Mercedes 560SL or 600SL, or a Vette. Choose The XLR as my target vehicle because of the rarity and unusualness. That you see these others "all the time". Am glad I did. Never have regretted this decision. Looking at the various colors I intentionally targeted Gold Mist (FYI, Love them all, but this and Infrared are my favorites). The search was on. Lasted almost a year.
;)

Well Said !

So true also. Like you I have decided I prefer 'American Muscle' and styling, first and foremost of pretty much any vintage period. Often when on a road trip out on the freeway I get a thumbs up and a short blast from an air horn on a nearby semi in approval. I always wave back. Easy to do with the top down. :thumbsup

You are right! The memories of good times in it, cruise ins, and just the sheer pleasure and unusualness is priceless.

While I had hit on Gold Mist, I do wish mine was a 'V'. But Cadillac never made one 'V' in Gold Mist to my knowledge? Please post pictures of your car sometime.

DUH. I MISSED THE PICTURES HERE.

Although Rob may not appreciate it, I like that this thread got off track from a possible :ugh: EEK THERE'RE NO PARTS!!! to a discussion of how much we like our XLR's despite that & the reactions they get.

Like CNC, I have fun in mine but I'm probably a model of defensive driving in it. Since it's a little "plastic" car, that's good for me and the car!

Some things never change -- years ago I had a 1970 Coupe Deville, not at all a low production car, and when it was about the same age that first year XLR's are now, I had to get a bumper & replacment HVAC control from a junkyard, & modify some new '71 window trim to fit because that's as far back as new parts went. It doesn't seem XLR's are really "special" in that regard...

Glad, ha, ha, to see my dud sensor for my 2004, is on your list of the discontinued. The car died just as I was about to put it in the garage. At that point everything died and locked me in the car. Thank heavens my wife phone the Caddie dealer for the trick to get out. If it happens to you open the glove box and stick your fob in the slot in the top left hand corner of the box. Shazam, everything will work again. After that take it to the shop.
Good news, Cadillac will have some new ones for the great unwashed by the middle of August this year! Damn big of them!
