2005 Satin Nickel XLR
Well....I did it...! I joined this forum to glean some knowledge about the XLR. As I said in my intro, I have always had Corvettes (and still Love them too!) but just wanted something different. After reading all the good things about this car (and some not so good) I took the plunge and purchased this 2005 XLR with 51K on it from Jim Falk Cadillac in Clinton Mo.. Josh was a great guy to deal with. It will be delivered this Monday....:D This is my favorite color combination for the XLR and what I was looking for. Cant wait to have her home!

Here's a few pics on the show room floor.....

Congrats!

Looks like you got a nice one! Enjoy! :)

Enjoy your new ride. Welcome to the best xlr site. We are here to answer your questions

Welcome! Very nice looking XLR! I think you will enjoy the change from a Corvette!

Well, she was delivered to me yesterday and it was everything they said she was! I love this car! Didnt get a chance to take my own pics yet, but it was raining and the XLR was dirty anyway....;) I will try to post some up tomorrow..

Funny how the Corvette owners that have made the switch seem to all love the XLR OVER THE VETTE!

I bought my last vette in 1998.

Traded it in 2000 for a 78 ferrari 308 that never gave me any real problems but was very hard to maintain. Tuneups ran almost $600 and i had to take it 275 miles to get it done.

Traded it in 2003 for a Mercedes 500. Very nice but, like the Ferrari, was difficult to keep going (the closest dealer was in Memphis 120 miles away.)

My collector cars have never been used more than a few days a year (1937 Pontiac street rod, 1930 chopped Model A, 1970 Cadillac coupe deville and a street legal World of Outlaws Sprint car I bought from Sammy Swindell.)

My wife's cars have always been our daily drivers.

In December of last year I bought my XLR. (search for my 'little old lady story" from January.)

I can not fathom the fact that my X is unquestionably the most fun, most comfortable and best looking car I have ever owned and that includes quite a few over the past 50 years.

I regularly drive it 140 miles roundtrip from our lake house via Top Gear style roads just to get a hotdog.

I will get it back from the shop tomorrow after a show quality detailing including touch up paint for whatever spots their inspection found. Full leather treatment for the interior and renovation of every piece of rubber on it.

Damn I love this car!

Well you are true XLR owner then and fit right in with the rest of us XLR NUTS and few bolts!! Lol

Yes I agree with 05 grand daddy. I too just ordered some touch up paint. Since I have noticed a couple "rock chips" in the hood and tonneau cover. I was in a hurry when the touch up paint came in so the parts guy only touched up the one chip. I'm always checking the car out daily. And noticed more areas. They are small but I'm going to get them touched up soon. A couple weeks ago I put my xlr in a show

. I made a quick poster board. When I say quick after it was done I guess the thing was blown up to big. That's my fault because I gave them the blown up pics and not the regular sized ones. So I'm planing on having it rerun. This time I'll give them the regular copies. I just started to show her. I have attended some local cruise ins though. That's where I get my ideas

While I do absolutely love my XLR, I never said I liked it better than the Corvettes I have owned. While the XLR is a beautiful car and more luxurious than the Vette, it dosent have that plant your azz in the seat speed that some of my Vettes had.....but thats ok, that is not why I bought this car anyway. Im retiring to the beach and I wanted a classy convertable to cruise in and this more than fits the bill...:)

Well finally got around to taking a pic of me and my just purchased 05 XLR. Please pay no attention to the apts in the background...Yes, I am living there....but only for 2 months untill I retire to my Gulfport, MS. home across the street from the beach! I sold my home here in TN and needed a temporary place to live. My rent is almost free because I keep the rif-raf out....lol....

You are not too far from where I live....Im near Brownsville, tn. We also share similar interests as I also build street rods. My current project is a '27 Model T coupe. I also have a 26 Sedan that I was going to build but dont want to haul it to Gulfport, Ms. Maybe you know someone who may be interested in it? We should meet for a beer!
