Nav Disc

I need to try one in the Florence, AL area to see if my NAV will work with a later disc. I keep getting the “insert Nav disc” message when I insert my original Nav disk. Yet it plAys dvd movies perfectly.

NAV DISC

2009 is the most up to date upgrade for the XLR.. and that it where it stops...So while it may be better than 2004 or even 2007 ...it is still 9 years old..
Thats 9 years of possible change in roadways ..locations ..streets....that will not be reflected on the disc...
That was what I was told when I inquired about purchasing the upgrade...... to be aware of that fact...
It turnsout I was given the upgrade by my Cadillac dealer when there was an issue with programming the Nav System...They changed it out but still had a problem ., so they did the upgrade thinking that was what was needed..
Turned out they just installed 2 bad units by coincidence..third unit worked ..upgrade and all.
It seems the map is fine with my limited use of the Nav System...But that is usually local....Just have it on...
Perhaps another forum member can share their experience with the upgrade when traveling to unfamiliar areas ....

I would prefer an older disc so I could verify that my GPS works prior to getting the update and newer discs. I probably would use my phone for GPS but I need a working GPS disc in order to use the steering wheel button for my bluetooth.
