Can I swap out the front tonneau cover position switch without doing a relearn on the top sequence? I'm having problems with my trunk lid not opening and closing using the key fob or the dash button.

All things being equal, if you could put the new one in the exact same position as the old, the system would not know the difference. Are you sure the switch is bad, maybe it just needs a relearn. You didn't say if the trunk will open and close from the trunk switches and I assume since your having a problem with the position switch your top is also not working.

My top works fine up and down but the trunk lid will not open or close using the key fob, dash button or trunk button. Also when I put the top up or down it hesitates when the trunk is sequenced to close, I have to release the top button and then push it again and the trunk will then close. Thanks for the reply.

If you haven't already tried this, disconnect your battery over night and see if that helps. You may want to consider getting a Tech2 or finding a friend close to you that has one. Where are you located, I could help if your close.

How do you open just the trunk. Will the soft switch on the outside open it? When its up will it close with the button on the underside of the trunk? Im offeri g adeal on potentiometer for a while till i clear out my parts. Ifyou need one, send me all three and have them rebuiltwithbetter than oem parts for less than the cost if one used on ebay. That way if you have to pay to do a relearn , you wont have to have it done again

I believe a top relearn will solve that problem. Mine would act up about once a year with the same symptoms but a top relearn would fix it.

That's a problem for me, I don't have access to a Tech 2 scan tool. I live in Michigan and don't know where I could go. Thanks

Thanks for the advice. A guy here in Michigan has volunteered his Tech II and help. He is about 40 miles away from me. This forum and the people are of great help for us newbies. Thanks again.

Well, we performed the top relearn procedure on my XLR today and everything works well once again. We had a couple of hiccups at first but we took care of them and then everything went well with the procedure. Thanks again for everyone's input.

Good Deal. Its always good to write down the values on the position readings so next timebyou can compare and see if they are wearing. They shoukd not change. If they do something is wrong or wearing
