Anyone know how to remove the "XLR" emblem on the door sill of an '05? I bought a new one....it's held on by adhesive, but darned if I can get the old one off!

Not my idea, but found this post on the website....

From a five year old post by another member:

What you need to do is get some dental floss or thin fishing line. Now you will carefully use the floss or fishing line along with some Goo Be Gone to cut through the adhesive behind the emblems. After removal you will have to clean any residue left behind, you can use the Goo Be Gone for this using small amounts on a good microfiber cloth. Make sure you do not use a circular motion, to insure not to leave any fine swirl marks. After you have removed all the remaining residue you will need to throughly clean, wax and polish the area....and you are done.

No guarantee ,,,,but worth a try? Might pre-heat the emblem first with a hair blow-dryer?,,,,but don't overheat. Let us know if it works!

Hi,
Good afternoon. Just another day in Paradise. Thanks for the part #. They are one of my next purchases. Is it snowing in Northern Iowa yet???
Have a great day.

If you are talking about the door sill plate, as opposed to the "XLR" on the front fender - it takes a putty knife, or a nylon/plastic trim removal tool. You will trash the sill you are removing. We replaced the "V" sill plates on ours & that's how it worked.

Door Sill Emblem

Hi All,
Good morning. Just another sunny day in Paradise. Thanks, I will look them up and get a couple on order. Have a great weekend.

I replaced one a few years ago. Comes off easily with a heat shrink gun. Warm it up at one end and it'll peel off as you continue to heat it. Glue residue is removed w/ nail polish remover.
