Probably the same everywhere; however there were six of us at the time and I think he was feeling 'generous' to us.

They probably didn't have six flatbeds to tow our cars, or six available units to haul us all into jail. (Almost every car had 2 occupants):lol:

If you were going enough over 100, they'd have found them:(:(

My good friends (and biker buddies) Glenn and Linda were riding their motorcycle yesterday and were hit by an inattentive driver who went left of center while they were stopped at an intersection. They're both okay; Linda broke her leg; it was reset and she was home the same day. Glenn had multiple fractures in his leg and a broken collarbone. He had successsful surgery to repair his leg today but is still in the hospital.

Please drive carefully out there this summer. I'd hate to lose any one of you!

Sorry to hear about your friends... I'll be praying for their speedy recovery!!

I love this time of the year! Our county fair opened today and here is the new taste treats..... DEEP FRIED BUTTER and CHOCOLATE COVERED FRIED PICKLES ..... Mmmmmmmm  Who thinks this stuff up? :pat:

On the other hand, the old fairway standards are back ... Aussie Potatoes w/ Ranch Dressing and/or cheese ..... and my personal favorite - fresh made potato chips. I know, I'm a simple soul .... :) Ray's favorite is their bar-b-que corn .... we don't know why theirs taste so much better than anyone's made at home .... I tell him it's because it's flavored with so much fun.

Needed to edit this ..... I forgot, this year also added to the menu: Deep Fried Frog Legs ..... Ugh.

There are at least 10 witnesses to attest to the fact we were well over 100MPH--probably around 120. I think they knew there were a bunch of XLR's meeting in Bowling Green that weekend.:lol:

Sooooo quiet around here lately .... :squint:

I just finished making our reservations for a little trip up the coast at the end of the month ... just can't waste this beautiful weather or time of our lives when obligations are finally managable ... ;)

So, it will be a couple of nights in the Flamingo Jungle and some time a little more coastal with the familia - and back down the PCH ... I have a feeling Lola will stray off course when we hit the Las Vegas sign that points "that way" ... :blinzel:

Tomorrow is Father's Day, and the girls are cooking Brunch for all of the Daddy's and then it's off to the Fair ....

What are you guys up to???

I took the weekend off from work and attended the Hooters Summer Series car show today. I took the 2009 XLR and got a first place in Contemporary Class.
We will be out and about tomorrow since it will be Jean's birthday.

Congratulations Jim

Congratulations Jim, that is great. Keep it up. You and Jean are going to have to build on a room for all your winnings.:wave::wave:

Storms roared thru the area yesterday. Been with out power for 30 hours. You take for granted the modern conveniences. Large pile of branches to haul away tomorrow.

Todd

What puts the power out, Whit? The branches falling on wires?? Another member posted on FB that he was without power too. Is it raining as well? Yes, power failures are never fun - especially in the summer.

I have heard a couple reports the the winds hit 80 - 90 mph. Lots of trees down. We received 1.3 inches of rain in about 30 minutes yesterday. Today the sky was beautiful. We had planned on taking the XLR & Vett to a car show today, but spent the day cleaning up the debris in the yard instead. Borrowed a generator from a friend for a few hours today to keep the frig & freezer cold. I am typing this from my office in town, Karen and I came into town to get a bit to eat. Ready to head back to a dark house.

We made it home from the 2700 mile vacation to the Oregon coast and back visiting relatives and friends along the way. Had a GREAT time... would be a fun place to maybe have a west coast rendevous next year???? The Sea Lion Caves are absolutely amazing... a 2 acre cave caused by (if I remember correctly) a volcanic fault. Sea lion and seals come in with the surf and lay on the rocks inside the cave. Hundred of them!!! But, it doesn't smell the greatest inside the cave...

I can fix you up with a generator if you need one.

Bob

Todd, it's good to hear that you guys are OK and that you didn't suffer any major damage. Hopefully things will be returning to normal real soon. See you soon.

FINALLY have our power back on - just over 2 days without power (we were given an eta of Monday night, 11pm - glad they were ultra conservative on their estimate). Hopefully our little generator kept the fridge/freezer stuff cold/frozen enough.

I was watching that storm on the tv, it looked really bad...and I wondered if you were in it's path, now I know, glad you are okay, and only have to clean up branches. Can't wait to get up that way to see Karen and you and your new car...I miss you both...and then there is the car...take care, again, glad you were only inconvenienced from the storm....love ya both, jeanie

We had a TORNADO touch down about 4:30 this afternoon. Took 3/4 of the room off our county multi-purpose building, called the METRA. Also demolished a glass shop, part of a casino and a portion of a boat sales business a couple blocks away from the METRA. It's been a looooonngg time since we've had a tornado up here in Montana; I think the last one was in the 1950's. It's just amazing what a gust of wind can do!!! Total devastastion!!!

Electricity was restored this morning. Brush pile hauled away. Everything is back to normal. Took the two cars up to a winery in Michigan this afternoon. They had wine tasting, a band and cook out. They are also the sponser for a vette club in Michigan, and had a vette only car show today. The ZR1 really drew everyones attention.

Great to hear things got restored, Todd. The Car Show that I was in today had a black ZR1 (like yours) that also had people gawking over. It won 1st Place in its class (C6). Gorgeous car.

We went to the Fair and I tried the Deep Fried Butter ...

This is what it is ... an actual (small) stick of butter, battered and deep fried with a kind of donut-y stuff. When you bite into it the hot butter runs out of the middle and down your arm ... oh, and they sprinkled it with garlic and parmesean cheese. Now, it that's not enough to make you , you can always order the alternate: cinnamon sugar ... :ugh:
Well, somebody had to try it.

Hope all of you great dads' had a wonderful day.... Mu-ahhh!
