I've been wanting to use my Iphone/Ipad in my 2007 XLR, but as we know blue tooth was available for 2009. Is it possible to purchase a new unit from GM and would it work for earlier year XLR? Has anybody switch out the old unit for a newer 2009 unit and did it work using bluetooth. I've already called the other company that made a "plug n' play" unit, but they're no longer making them (I got to the party way too late).
Otherwise, I can get the wireless unit from Clutchfield (I think that's the name) under $400 installed. The downside I've heard from similar units like this is the signal can degrade and you have to supply your own power unit. Also, I'm not removing the current unit for anything that's after market. I want the inside to remain clean and unmolested.
