Can anyone tell me what the XLR V emblem is and what it stands for? I know that it designates the V series, I'm trying to understand what the emblem represents?? :dunno:

Here's a link to some info: CTS-CTS-V FAQ Page- The History of the V-series. And from elsewhere: "A new “V” line whose logo (fig. 3) squeezes and angles the colors of the basic crest so they suggest a racing flag and attaches them to a V evoking V shaped engines. The V is tilted as if with speed. The logo for V-Series models employs the same basic elements. But according to Kip Wasenko, design director, GM Performance Division, who oversaw the design of the V-Series logo: 'While its colors are meant to depict the ’luxury’ side of Cadillac, its vertical orientation and its forward-leaning angle to the right are both meant to depict motion and performance.'"

Kip Wasenko is also given credit for the Evoq, the concept car that led to the XLR: Creative Expressions : Automotive Design & Production.

But I like Fireduck's explanation the best!

The emblem represents the performance oriented variants of the three models, oops, now 4. There is a specific criteria a Caddy must meet to truly be considered a "V Series":
"First of all, V-series Cadillac vehicles must be capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in less than 5 seconds. All three Cadillac Vs have in excess of 400 hp.
Second, it must have a racetrack-tuned suspension.
Third, they must also have racing brakes.
Last but certainly not least, it must have the signature V styling."
