certain radio station get louder at times plus I want to listen to xm radio but can't with-out getting a external antenna.
also want to listen to I -tunes off my phone but can't.

any suggestions?

XM radio was an option for '04 model year. If your vehicle has RPO code U2K it has the XM module. The '04 & '05 models also had an external antenna that mounted on the rear deck lid. If it is not on the car or in the trunk, you either need to find on or get an antenna to mount inconspicuously to receive the signal. You also need to subscribe to the service.

there we're lock picks available at one time, that integrated into the XM module to be able to play music from you iPod. Most have since been discontinued for the XLR's. Search 'lock pick' on this site and you will find another alternative to play your music through your iPod.

This is what the XM antenna Wart looks like if you have one it's mount on the center of the trunk area! There is a setting to have the volume raise and lower with the surrounding sound at that time. I believe it only works with AM/ FM radio,
Congrats on your purchase of your XLR and welcome to the best XLR Forum on the internet!

Yes grand daddy. I only notice the volume when it's on the am/fm stations. Not when it's on xm radio.

Question,........

"There is a setting to have the volume raise and lower with the surrounding sound at that time".

Does this mean that the XM has a different volume setting??
My XM volume is considerably lower than my CD or FM radio.

You cannot change the volume to balance out volume when switching between SAT radio and other modes. It is annoying but I also find old CD recordings are not as loud as new recordings so my thumb gets a workout on the volume switch.

Welcome aboard.....

Welcome to the site. I also have an '04 with low miles. There is a lot of great information on this site. I haven't experienced some of the issues detailed on this site specific to the '04 and early '05s, but the information is great to have if you run into them. The fact that your car has low miles is a good thing as it most likely has been well taken care of.
