Yes... we are praying for your son as well. We are also praying for the Doctors in the operating room to have steady hands and for God to give them the knowledge to perform the surgery with perfection.

Thank You For All The Warm Thoughts And Prayers

Well gang, its been a rough 4 days but the end of this (the worst) part has concluded well. Word tonight is that my youngest Son will likely be released from the hospital tomorrow. His recovery went far better than expected particularly given the unexpected difficulties encountered during his surgery.

The Docs found that they had to do more internally than planned. Essentially reconstructing his chest/ rib cage. Ribs removed, sternum twisted into position, heart and lungs repositioned, and a metal bar slid through his chest to hold all in place. The bar comes out after the next year of healing.

However, tonight the morphine is no longer dripping, his pain has lessened, and he can even slowly stand and shuffle around. Rather miraculous given all that was done and the pain he endures. I guess being 17 has it advantages.

To all you sending prayers and good wishes we thank you for your support. We obviously benefited. You folks definitely have God's ear.... thanks for sending his protections our way!

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas and a warm holiday season. May each and every one of you be equally blessed in a fitting and miraculous way.

Steve

Yep .... I know that your son is surrounded and protected by the most beautiful angels ever .....

Merry Christmas, Steve, to you and your family - and when he can stand it .... give your son a hug and kiss from me.

Believe in miracles .... I do. :angelxxoo RA & Ray

We are SOOOO glad everything turned out so well. Like you said, the worst part is probably over, but our prayers will still be with you and your family for a FULL and COMPLETE recovery...

Sounding a bit repetitive here, but it can not be said to often: So very happy to hear the good news, your son is on the road to recovery and you will all be together at home for Christmas.
May your family feel the blessing of 'Being a Family' and that you bask in the joy of your love for each other. We wish to extend a Merry Christmas to you Steve and your family.

Well Steve there no better news than great news like this! I'm sure age does have a lot to do with a quicker recovery! We just loved it when we heard things went so great for your son, I know when a parent is in this position it's very nerve racking time! So now that the worst is behind you and that he well be home for Christmas that great! God Bless and have wonderful Holiday Season and may God watch over you all in the New Year!

Looking at the picture in the Sebring race thread, you with two of your sons. I didn't look back at this whole thread for a name, but is the son that had the surgery in that picture? With all that's going on with Rod & Cindy, I thought back, about you and your son! I guess no news here is good news and he must be doing real good. Those are certainly two good looking sons you have there!!
