Scan Tool

If you're just wanting something for that, go on Amazon, buy a bluetooth ELM OBD reader, download an app called Torque, and it will do just what you want it to.

What Is The Best Scan Tool To Get To Pull Codes And Delete Them Is CEN-TECH OK ??
Thank You
Harley03joe

I don’t own one myself but they are always say you need a Tech 2

You don't need a TECH II just to pull codes and reset them. In my case, a bluetooth OBD II reader and an app on my smartphone allows me to look at any codes that may have triggered and if not real important, reset the offending code

Thank You Folks For The Help, I Don't Use An I Phone Do I Still Need The download an app called Torque

Looking to buy XLRs again after a hiatus with Mercs but there are three levels of scan tools available for the XLR.

Elm BT mini dongle and Android Torque Pro is good for reading/clearing DTCs (OBD-II standard stuff) and displaying/logging parameters. I have on my phone.

For a PC there are OBDWIZ/Touchscan and TunerCat RTOBD2 but unless into programming do not do much more than Torque Pro.

From there to get into the embedded and proprietary codes (like for the retractable top) you need a dedicated machine. I like the Autel DiagLink for about a buck with the GM module but are others.

Finally you get into the GM dealer devices (Tech II) which can be expensive.

It all depends on what you want to do.

ps if do not have a cell phone, can use Torque Pro with any Android tablet that has BT.

If you're going to be serious, a TECH II is the only way to go. Several on here, me included, have bought either real or clone TECH Ii tools. I got a Chinese clone over 2 years ago, saved me time, money and trouble not having to go to a dealer.

Torque Pro runs on Android. I have on my cell phone and a tablet. Actually better on a tablet.Useful when inspecting a car.

Negotiating for an XLR & friend has a Tech II. Will compare with $100 Autel Diaglink when car is here.

Been scanning cars, mostly GM since 1981, have quite a collection. Also have an '88 with touchscreen and built in diagnostics, is a fun hobby.
