Rear strut

The V-series has a computer system that will allow you to change the from "daily driving" to "performance (makes the shocks stiffer)". I know the base doesn't have this feature.

I ran a search on gmpartsdirect.com and the base '05 XLR shock runs $510 and the '07 XLR-V runs $415. Based on the dollar difference, I would guess they might be different but there is no telling with how pricing is figured with these cars.:pat:

Mike - I wonder if you did a search of '07 base vs '07 V series shocks, if it would be the same? Maybe the shocks were upgraded between '05 and '07 for all XLR's? Just a thought. Thanks for looking at that, though. :dunno:

It shows the breakdown 4.6L then the next line is 4.4L. The base '07 rear shock is $488. As usual, one side cost more than the other by a few dollars.

This is the '05 left and right......

My guess is they are the same, just biased a little differently on the V series. Also on the Z06 Corvette with the FE2 suspension. Pricing may be different, because they can.

Mike

Didn't know that you could change it on a v-series to a performance mode. Thanks for the info.
Like I said, definitely going with the coilovers on my base XLR, but the addition of the hotchkis sway bars made a huge difference in the suspension (which is obvious it would seeing as though the front bar was tiny, and there was no rear sway bar)

As mentioned above the performance mode stiffens the shocks on the V, they are magnetic (magnaride?) shocks which the suspension control module can talk to. Just like on some Vettes if you are changing over to a standard shock you can but there is an electronic feedback device required at each shock which lies to the SCM about the shock that is in place. This is what I have read about the differences anyway, as far as I know the standard XLR does not have this communication feature. Kindly correct my feedback if not correct. ~ Raz 06 XLRV
