2007 Black Tan XLR
Hello All
Just got a 2007 XLR last week. And now the fun starts correcting all the things the prior owner ignored. Look forward to getting feed back from both other owners and vendors.
So good to be here!

Replacing Leather Interior 2007

So my first question. Replacing the interior leather. Any one with some ideas where to get OEM or aftermarket leather seat replacements? If not what solutions have u all used.

I went to sergeant automotive up in jax

Upholstery Services in Jacksonville, FL - Sargent Upholstery. They matched my interior seat to as close to original as I think. I attached pic of screenshot and website. I although stayed in the building while they did the repair. Because it wasn’t really in the best neighborhood to walk around in. So mom and I packed a cooler with snacks and sandwiches. Took a couple hours but I would call them to make appointment mainly because you are arriving from a different city. I told them to be careful because the parts are hard to come by and irreplaceable. I gave them a 95% score on their review page. Just because when they put the drivers seat back in place they set it down on the seat belt connector. So they had to take the seat back out so they could reposition the seat belt lock

You may want to check Katzkin <cite style="color: rgb(0, 109, 33); font-family: Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif; font-size: 13px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; overflow-wrap: break-word; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;">https://katzkin.com for leather seats.

Welcome to the forum and our XLR World, I’ve had my seat repair at a local upholstery shop. The guy is top notch, he only did the outer side of back and seat panel replacement only on driver seat. After cleaning the seats and retreated with rejuvenation cream, it matches perfectly!

Welcome to the group! This is the place for hints, advice and a tremendous amount of general knowledge about our complicated and beautiful vehicles!

Thank Yous and Shared Journeys

Hello everyone! Great to be here.
First to @hawkeye372 I did put the vehicle in the registry. Thank you so much for thinking about for me! I will get some pics up soon as well.
I am sincerely enthusiastic to be part of the forum and the XLR has had my eye for some time. And now I got one. I now have to convertibles collectibles a Lexus SC430 2007 and my 2007 XLR. Two beautiful cars they stopped making. Refurbishing the XLR and driving it a lot is the plan.

And thank you to all the fellow Floridians who shared their experience on refurbishing their interiors. Now I can make some plans. So first the interior, then FRIED running light lenses, a GPS and Stereo and then maybe a nice pearl paint job. Now do I risk a road trip! :)

Look forward to our shared journey as XLR enthusiasts.

Thanks Rob, and I am trying to learn how to use this. And I own an IT company. But total idiot on forums.

Check my email response back to you about your 2007 XLR....

Like someone on this site told me. Don’t worry and just drive it all over the place. I’ve had mine since 2012. She had just around 20758 now she has north of 64k on her. I enjoy driving her any time and anywhere. I just wish I could’ve taken her up to bowling green for the 15th reunion. My mom wanted to go to Memphis for her belated birthday so we just combined that trip and the bowling green Kentucky trip. She doesn’t like riding in that low of a car for long distances. But on a good note I did get to meet up with some of the great ppl on this site. Hopefully if there is another one planed for next year, you’ll be able to attend.
Well looking forward to seeing the pics of your new purchase.

Great to hear! My 2007 has seen some miles already, but engines can be managed. And I would love to meet you and other members here. I am sure the opportunity will present itself. Great to hear of the positive experience with the XLR - the negative ones get all the attention. But the great fun of driving one of these matters. I have owned a lot of toys in my life. And this one is exceptional in many ways.

Thanks again!

Hello all, just want to thank all the members who responded to some of my questions. Learned a lot! The forum and all of you are a great community and resource. In the last week I have started the process to repair and replace the day time running lights - burn lens and all, discovered I do not have a leaking fuel pump or gas tank, the prior appears to have addressed that. Did find some minor problems when inspecting the underside of the vehicle at Val Ward Cadillac Ft. Meyers. - parts are not cheap :) - but generally the under carriage looked good. All in all so far I am enjoying the ride and look forward to making all these minor improvements.

Again thanks everyone.

Good morning. And no idea. The mechanic took me back into the Cadillac shop. And together we inspected all the obvious places under and above the vehicle. And nothing. No leaks. No stains. No odors. Nada! We discovered that the XLR appears to have had a prior "fix" to the tanks and fuel pumps. I am not trying to run done more details on the service records. So 2 hrs and nothing to fix. And we had all the bulletins in hand pointing to prior instances in XLRs and Corvettes. Frankly looks like its one of those mysteries other owners have reported where it happens and then they cannot replicate the event.

Fortunately, the only issues we did discover are easily fixed - not major and also not cheap.

But gosh the XLR is really a piece of art - I know its a corvette chassis , but the design is magnificent.

Thanks for asking Tall Sally
