Picking up a 06 Infrared XLR tomorrow . It is a car I have lusted over for years and I am finally in a position to buy 1.

congratulations and welcome on your new find/purchase. I too have a 06 infrared base and love it. hope you have many days of topdown driving. We XLRers have great cars especially these red ones. These are head turning and you'll get many ppl asking you many questions. Be sure to go and add the car to the registry here when you get time.

Welcome and Congrats on your new ride! You will find very valuable information on this forum,
lots of great members.

You got the right color & year! Get a good polish job on it & it will actually glow infrared - they sure got the name of the color right.

Hopefully you have already have a chance to take it out & get comments like I got today: "Hey, that's a bad ass car!" :thumbsup

Check the trunk. Left side pull the cover off expose the brains of the car. Check for water leek. Replace the cover so no water gets in. Also check the right side cubby for soakage. I've had to replace my trunk weatherstrip because of leakage. Keep an eye out for when it rains.

Yepper saw that on here earlier, checked before I bought it, no moisture indication at all. I will keep a eye on it but fortunately it does not usually rain much around here in Phoenix, Arizona

Do ya wanna rethink that post? We just saw on the Weather Channel that I-17 was closed, due to flooding on the north side of Phoenix.

:dunno:

I try and check my trunk every time I have to do a run when it rains. I bring it in the garage and lower the door then raise the trunk and check for moisture. At both cubby areas.

Yea it has a little strange lately, last week both I-10 & I-17 turned into lakes, and was shut down, yesterday just the 17 was shut down. Last time I saw that was back in 2004. We can go for hundred's of days without a drop.

Welcome to the realm of XLR ownership. You will have MANY miles of top down drives and many, many questions. My favorite is, "Is that the new Cadillac with 550 horses?" I just smile and romp on the gas...

Wait til his ECM or BCM goes out and he's searching in the trunk for problems.:laugh:

Got to agree 1000% mtrocket , no matter where I go people want to ask about it !! Having owned the car for 3 days and have put 1000 miles on it, such a pleasure to drive.

And... it only gets better and more fun with time!!
