interior trim question

Why is there wood trim on the lower center stack in some cars but not in others? Most seem to have an argent metal panel there. Is this an option difference or is it aftermarket?

(This the kind of little picky issue that drives me nuts until I can figure it out! I bet at least some of the members here can sympathize.)

I don't know the answer to this, but my 08 looks like the photo you show here.

I found the answer in a super-informative post by Cadillac Tech called '04-'09 XLR History & Information:
