When I was dropping my XLR off at the dealer for oil leak repair round 2, the service writer had another XLR fob on her desk. When I commented on it, she said they'll go months without seeing any & then have a wave, & they had 4-5 in the last week. For two of them, people complained all the lights would come on but the car wouldn't start. One managed to get it to start & drove it straight to the dealer, the other had to have it towed in. The problem: just needed a new battery for the fob.

SO, if you have this happen to you, save yourself a tow & try replacing your fob battery first.

Glove box transmitter pocket

Don't forget about the glove box transmitter pocket!

We were going out to dinner one night and apparently the battery had gotten weak in the fob. Not having a spare battery on hand at the time, I inserted the fob into the glove box transmitter pocket, started the car and drove to the restaurant. Of course, I couldn't lock the car with a weak battery in the fob, but at least we were able to start and drive Crimson Pearl!

And one other thing, I keep a card of new replacement batteries in the console now. :thumbsup

The same thing happened to me after a few months after getting the car. Good thing I carry a spare key fob battery in several locations. I quickly changed it and my car started right up. :D
