2004 XLR Black + Black
Hi
I have a 2004 base XLR that I have enjoyed.
Recently the roof stopped working so it went to the dealer who sent the car back with the radio/cd system not working (as well as the roof). For that level of crappy service, I can probably do better myself. No problem with the engine, HVAC, etc... I have the blue 2004 XLR workshop manual already but I probably also need some direction as to getting the most cost effective diagnostic reader that I can plug in. Please let me know if I am taking on too much.
Thanks.

Tech II & Service Manuals required

These cars are pretty sophisticated with multiple computers. A tech II and service manuals are required for things, along with several specialty tools for other matters. Don't know how a top problem would affect the radio/cd system. Perhaps that could be as simple as a fuse. I would search for another dealer, preferably one with an XLR tech on staff. Did you check the left rear trunk cubbyhole for signs of water/moisture where the top module and pump is located. If that is not the problem, perhaps a sensor has gone bad or the top simply needs a re-learn. The Tech II will diagnose these kinds of problems.

Dear Cubby558, thanks for the response there is only 1 XLR so called specialist in the whole country. WIll check up on the things you mentioned.

??? Please enlighten us! Who is this single XLR specialist you speak of?

Sorry to hear you are having problems. I agree, you'll probably need a Tech 2, but you can do some basics by yorself. Obviosluy check the fues, I beleve the top fuse is loacted under the passenger floor board.
Does the trunk operate okay? Open the trunk and check the computers in the left rear of the trunk, they are underthe floor of the trunk. It should be dry under there. Okay, that's about teh extent of my troubleshooting skills.
Best of luck with this.

Besides, everyone knows that the BEST XLR technician works at Rogers Cadillac in Shelby, NC.

Thought he was going to come and tell me it was, Alan Kulbersh--Mr. XLR !:laugh::laugh:

OMG!!! Let's don't get started on that one, and that guy, again!!! But good save Cubby!!

I'll have to argue with you on that one; even though I've never met or used him, as NC is a little far for me. Mine is in the Indy area. Maybe you've heard of him; he goes by Cadillac Tech on the forum.:lol:
