Bits & pieces ...
Took my daily driver in to my dealer today for state inspection, and chatted about a few different XLR-related items and learned the following:
-- One of the things that apparently should be on the "what to look for" list for potential owners -- along with checking the "bucket" in the trunk -- is checking the roof panel for signs it's starting to detach. My dealer had previously told me they check our XLR's for this when we bring them in. Since this is also important for current owners, next time I have mine in I'll see if I can find out exactly what/how they're checking. You may want to ask
your dealer about this too.
-- At this point in their lives, XLR's really need to be garage kept. It's not clear that even keeping them covered is sufficient. Part of the risk is filling up the bucket o'electronic brains in the trunk with water, but potential leaks from 8-13 year old seals aren't going to be good elsewhere either.
-- For those of you who came on the 2015 Va. Beach/Outer Banks trip, the owner of the Star Black XLR had to sell it. Sad because that was one spunky person, but the car has at least gone to another local owner who is very excited to have it.
And, on that last news note, hopefully we'll get to meet the new owner soon as our dealer wants to set up another local XLR drive in about a month. If anyone "out there" lives reasonably close to Newport News, Va. (which is where our dealer is), shoot me a PM & I'll keep you in the loop!

P.S.: For folks on here chatting about not being able to hear their turn signal, it seems no one in my area uses theirs so you wouldn't have to worry about it here, just leave it off ...
