Fancy Black XLR-V at D3
That black car with the fancy flared fenders and the shark gill hood was at the D3 shop last week (when I was there). It is actually a customer's car and was in for some body work, because someone had bumped into his front end

. The damage was minor, but it is a beautiful car and, according to the D3 guy - it has quite a bit under the hood.
I know this thread is about the wheels, but I wanted to pitch in about that particular car, since there were some questions about ownership and, of course, the wheels and tires - They are 20's and the flared fenders were required because of the stock fender clearance.
I have Maya 3 piece 20's on my car and, depending on the tires, it can be a problem. The 245-40 fronts
barely clear, especially during a turn (thank god). The 275-35 rears rub the factory fenders, mostly outer, but some inner (so it's not just the offset). I had to lift the rear 1.2" in order to avoid 90% of the rubs I would get during compressions or speed bumps (especially with full fuel and passenger).
Here are some photos of the wheels, tires and clearances, for future reference to anyone who might consider going to a larger wheel/tire setup:

And, as I had posted on the other board, our friends at D3 are no longer offering much for the XLR line, as they had in the past. The do have the molds for the body modifications and will do some other small work, like Corsa exhaust and coil over suspensions, but they mostly concentrate on the CTS-V's now. That's where the money is, because there are not enough of us out there to keep them interested - FYI.
