Has anyone had experience with the installation of aftermarket seats? Pitfalls? Things to avoid? Currently my 2006 is showing wear! Thanks.

Thanks for your response. The plastic moulding housing the electric seat controls is falling apart. OEM parts for the seat are no longer made. New Old Stock is available at $500.00, but it is still almost 20 years old and could suffer the same fate. I thought some racing seats might be an answer-but was concerned about possible problems with error codes since the the deletion of airbags, seating heat and cooling, etc. might cause error codes, or............

You will get codes out your as..... Im sorry out your seat bottom. There are plenty of seat control panels used. a whole lot cheaper than 500$. Never seen them fall apart. The way they are mounted if you slide out of the seat, you can break them. Mostly when the padding in the seat gets compressed the seat is too low so you can break them.

Many thanks for your note and I will watch for your code follow up.

I am still seriously thinking about the seat replacement. My car is a driver with 120,000 miles for this original owner. I thought the racing seat upgrade would save $$$ over restoration of the worn leather and would reduce some of the motors and hardware of the originals.

I still hope from someone who has experience with after market seat replacement.

Best wishes-
