l am looking at getting an after market warranty for my 07 XLR. So far USAA has given me the best quote with the best terms. Bumper to bumper for any necessary repairs, road side assistance, towing, 72 hr lodging if out of town, and some other things that l forgot. This service costs a little over $120.00 a month for 3 years. lt doesn't cover normal wear and tear or standard maintenance. They will cover the car until it is 10 years old or 36,000 miles. Which ever occurs first. There is no deductible and l can take the car to any shop of my choice. The warranty can be sold with the car. My biggest concern is electrical problems. For that there is no choice but Caddy dealer, l think. Engine or tranny could be expensive. Suspension, brakes and steering, l don't know. Right now everything is working fine, lbut no guarantee for next week. Does anyone out there have any experience with these warranties? Are they worth the cost?

There has been a lot of discussion about these warranties on the forum. Simply search "aftermarket warranties" and you will have quite a bit of reading material.

We went with a product through USAA. Service manager at our Caddy dealership was familiar with them & said they were no problem to work with. Haven't actually used it yet but I imagine the standard oil leaks will get a test run.

When I was researching these things I found it's definitely an area to proceed with caution - worth it to pay a little more for something that will actually give coverage instead of problems/excuses.

Unfortunately, Costco has dropped selling service plans. The one they sold was actually the top plan sold by Century Warranty Services. Since my dealer had no issues with them when my expensive top/trunk pump failed intermittently, I'll recommend Century.

bought warranty

The service manager at Cadillac offered some suggestions of warranties he had worked with. l asked about the credit union that financed the car and he said they had good coverage. My credit union offered Member's Choice and they appear to be good. The CU recommended a 36 month 45,000 mile policy for $2599.00 with a $100.00 deductible. l'll never drive this car 45,000 miles in the next three years so l went with the 36 month 36,000 mile policy for $3010.00 and $0 deductible. lt's $400.00 more, but l can imagine the car will be in the shop at least 4 times in the next 3 years. l figured the CU would want their collateral protected and the dealer would recommend the warranty easiest to work with. The service manager also recommended: CNA (Continental), JM&A (Fidelity), and GMPP (GM)
