To Whom It May Concern:

The Lincolnshire Police Department (Illinois) is conducting a criminal investigation into the businesses known as XLR Gift Boutique and Cadillac Gift Boutique. The business was based at PO Box 626, Lincolnshire, Illinois 60069. The police case number is C10-01897.

Your name and email information were recovered during the investigation. At this time please have no further contact with the business or any of its alleged employees and I am requesting you directly contact me from this point forward. I will be working directly with the Lake County State’s Attorneys Office to continue the investigation on everyone’s behalf.

I am requesting that everyone please email me a PDF copy of their order. Please include a short statement within the email response which outlines specific items ordered and your actual losses. All information will be included in the report for future restitution within the court system. Below is a sample letter to show you exactly what I am requesting.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly at 847-913-2349. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

You beat me to it, Ruth Ann. I just received the email as well. I only purchased one item from them back in 2006 and didn't have a problem, but.......started hearing the horror stories (yours and others) right after that and never contacted them again. Glad to see they are doing something about it, but doubt there will be anything there to recoup from.

UNFORTUNATELY, or fortunately, whichever way you see it :squint: - after much public exposure and to avoid futher embarrassement, he did finally, after 6 months, refund my money ..... Although, it was 'really' David Hand (?) that handled the final transactions .... funny thing though ... Alan is the only one I ever talked to about the order .... Well - what goes around comes around .... :blinzel:

He is a pompous asshat who is a legend in his own little mind. I'm glad someone finally took the time to hold him criminally accountable for his actions......or lack thereof.

I received the email today as well. A buddy of mine is a detective with a neighboring police department here - I'll see what I can find out about this investigation.

I too, bought a couple of things from the boutique - but didn't have any problems getting my items I ordered.

I also got the same. Other than this guy taking forever to fill the order I eventually got it. However, while searching the Internet his site is active again,

Boutique

I too received the email this morning, although I never ordered anything due to his bad rep, my name was in their data base as inquiring about their products.

UPDATE

I didn't receive the following email, but saw it on another forum, so I copied and pasted it. I guess we now know what 'Mr. XLR' will be doing in the future----TIME!!!

Update
This is an e-mail I just received. Some of you that have been around a while may recognize the name.

Dear Cadillac XLR Boutique Victims,

I wanted to update everyone on the status of the criminal case. I completed my investigation during the past week and I presented it to the Lake County State’s Attorneys Office yesterday. The State’s Attorney approved two criminal charges, Theft, a Class 3 Felony, and Computer Fraud, a Class 3 Felony. A Lake County, Illinois, judge then set bond on the warrant in the amount of $50,000.

I spoke with the suspect, Allen Kulbersh, and he agreed to surrender himself to me this afternoon. Allen was booked and processed at our police department. He was able to post cash bond on the warrant and he was subsequently released pending a Lake County court date of March 23, 2011.

You will be contacted by the State’s Attorneys Office at some point regarding restitution amounts, so please cooperate with their Victim Counselors. I apologize for the duration of the investigation, however, it was necessary for me to identify all the victims around the country and then obtain all their supporting documents. If you have any questions, feel free to email or contact me via telephone.

Sincerely,

Detective Adam Hyde

My dealings with Alan were OK, but the Boutique merchandise was excessively overpriced and just not interesting enough to buy. After a few early horror stories read on line, that sealed their fate, at least with me. It is unfortunate that others got hooked.
