If I am not mistaken, the L stands for Luxury and the R stands for roadster. But if I am mistaken, somebody will know what is right.

Nothing. The book written by J. McCormick about the XLR told that story ... and then we had it confirmed in a discussion at the factory ...

I like to think it stands for The Best Freaking Car Ever.

I always tell those that ask, "Xtra Luxurious Roadster".

You know, maybe the letters stand for something different to everybody. Like if someone were to ask me, I say something like Xpensive Luxury Roadster. But others have posted saying that they say something different. It means something completely different to each and every one of us XLR owners... Wait, I'm not an XLR owner, lol.

When you read McCormick's book, you could easily be of the opinion that the XLR tag was influenced by the Jaguar XK8. The targeted competition of the inspiration for the XLR, the Evoq, was the Jaguar XK8 and the Mercedes SL500.

It's not hard to make the leap from that to an earlier suggestion, that XLR may have been derived from the concept of X, Limited Roadster or Luxury Roadster.

Just my speculation based on limited information the McCormick book.
