Here's one of the oddest bits of Carfax data I ever ran across. I thought it was weird enough to save a screenshot--attached.

Supposedly this XLR hit a parked car in a "minor" accident. Among several areas affected, I was amazed to see the roof included! How you get that involved in a fender bender, even a pretty hard one, I can't imagine. Also the report says "functional damage" but Carfax still rates the impact as minor, and I don't see how that computes either.

The car is marked down to $8,995, the very lowest one currently listed that's not salvage, but I'm not sure it's low enough.

Not sure about this one but having managed collisioj centers for years its not uncommon for people who get hit to claim their transmission does nit work, the wreck dtopped up their catalytic converter the radio has static, the tires wore out stc. So a top malfunction claim sounds about right
Also black and other dark colors in very hot areas experienced roof delamanateing. The outer roof panel would loose its bond. That also may have been a claim . id love to see the repair order on that one.

Whats good now is most shops do a prerepair scan that will tell almost everything wrong with the car and how long its been going on. Then the insurance can easily tell what was going on before the accident and have proof. Solves a whole lot of disputes.
