My 2006 Base is having two issues:

1st Issue:
Trunk, worked about a month ago. My Top works fine, that is the only time my Trunk will open, it does NOT OPEN with the FOB, trunk button, inside car trunk button, can't figure out why it only opens when I go to put the top down. Is there a solenoid, it can't be the latch or else the top would not work either.

2nd Issue:
When it's parked in the garage I smell gasoline, took it to my mechanic and he isn't sure, he thinks he may have seen a crack all the way up top of the tank (when we looked when it was on the lift), or he said maybe the seal, any suggestions.

There are two problems on the gas. Both going to be expensive in labor. The pump themselves will get a crack on the fitting at the very top of the unit. The tans did have a crack problem but mostly in 04-05 . either requure pulling tge tank. About 2500 at a dealer. You dont have to drop the rear suspension and transmission as some state. But you do have to lower it. And remove tge exhaust its nut and bolts but the pump replacement can be a bear. if you decide to do it pm me and ill give you a few pointers

With the trunk open check to see if the underside button works? Also the touch pad above the tag. Then check the limit switch under the left rear fender you can see when the trunk is fully open it touches a little switch to activate it.i have all three if any dont work

I had this issue after changing the battery. Disconnected the battery cables and held both cable ends together for a few minutes. Reconnected to battery and trunk worked again. “Your mileage my very”😁

I would not recommend doing that without doing some research first. It may be ok but I thought I read somewhere on this forum that you could do more harm then good. I think it recommended putting a resistor between the two battery cables to slowly drain the power from the capacitors in the system, but I don't remember what size resistor.

I will have my mechanic try that, thank you and this weekend I will do what you stated in the trunk and let you know, have a great weekend.
