shifter stuck in manual mode

hi all, owner of 2004 Cadillac XLR w/39K miles.

A person was going to test drive my XLR & somehow got it stuck in manual mode; they also set parking brake which took a while to figure out how to get it released--tried hitting accessory twice, no help; installed new battery, no help--any other suggestions on how to get it out of manual? Thanks!

got it figured out; the shifter was in a 'bind', so took shifter plate off and pulled the shifter up--after looking everything over (and a 'wiggle' may have helped) it went to the Park-Neutral-Drive side. Phew!
