While sitting in my 2008 XLR at a cool windy day at a Car Show I noticed that the Console was warm on the drivers side as was the lid in one spot.
I determined that even when the lid was properly closed, the light was still on inside! This no doubt was one the causes of my Battery going dead in 2-3 weeks.
Feel up your lids folks! I will be adding something to the underside of the lid to fix this. Switch Plunger was not being fully depressed.
Now if I could get the trunk to stay open when the roof is up....

No. he knows better. he thinks it Is something else. He was already offered the suggestion.

Interesting my 08 does not have a light in the center console next to the shifter if thats the one hes talking about.

It is NOT the bulb next to the shifter although there is one there. It is for the interior of the console.

It is very difficult to hold the Trunk Lid up and I don't think new Struts will do it, but I will find out. Thanks for the info and suggestions.

New struts cannot be compressed by hand. I think they are about 250 pounds each . When they totally fail it takes two people to.open the trunk. Also when they go bad the trunk does dont rise properly allowing the rear to open before the forward corners rise. This results it the deck lid corners getting broken .$$$ damage instead of 40$ worth of struts.

I did mine.. Held the trunk up with a 2x4. Put a crowbar between the hinge and had my friend press down on the crowbar, just enough so i could slip the the top strut in. Was not easy, but worked..

Theres a tiny 15 torx screw on the hinge. It looks like it does not do anything. Just remove it and the trunk will open another 1/2 inch allowing the the struts to snap on. No prying needed. Be sure to replace the screw when done

Thanks Mickeytee, that little bit of information will be very helpful as I plan to change mine soon.
