2007 XLR Black on Black
Hello,

New to the forums. Has anyone seen where the VIN says one color but the car is another? I'm looking at a 2007 XLR, with VIN 1G6YV36A175601231. The build sheet says 67U, but the car is black. And I mean if they repainted the car, they certainly did a really nice job. Were the Mary Kay cars repainted or something special done to them? The car has a rebuilt title due to front end damage that was repaired very nicely so not overly concerned but curious.

Thanks,

- Wayne

I wondered about the mary kay car. One was recently in a flood and totaled. It will most likely come back for sale with a color change. The xlr is faily easy to change colors on and do a good job. One hack shop in north carolina sold a pearl white respray and told the buyer it was a factory color. They also told the bhyer it was a minor repair. He found the salvage yard photos of the car before repair and was shocked how much damage was really done to the car. Anothe flood car that a bhyer looked at wss told they just cleaned the carpets and the car really had no water damage. I was able to contact the owner in florida that sent me photos of the water completely over the seats and the trunk full of water. So have a professional inspect the car. Totaled cars can eaxily be properly repaired. But flood cars should never be put back on the road.

Thanks for the reply. It was totaled before the hurricane and repaired - and inspected by Tampa DMV. The original sticker is on the car and in good shape so pretty certain it didn't go through any water. I'll be getting pictures and receipts from the work that was done to it. It's just curious because the paint looks really good. The current owner was not aware of the color change as he bought it black. Like I mentioned, it's been black for some time according to CarFax. I'm not paying a ton for it so not expecting miracles.

Know where I can get a front license plate bracket? It came with one new, but not with the car now.
