My dealer has stated to me that I can get a free oil change as part of a free maintenance program that is part of the warranty (also stated in the owners manual). The catch is that the DIC has to state that the oil needs to be changed. My "Oil Life" is at 23% currently, does anyone know at what percentage will the DIC recommend that the oil be changed? In todays economy whatever I can get for free I am going to try to take advantage of it :blinzel:, or should I just get the oil changed and not gamble......at the time of this post the oil is clean and does not show any issues.

I believe the "change oil" message will come on at 10% Oil Life. I follow the indicator on my XLR and wife's Denali. I know two GM technicians that were skeptical about the whole "oil life indicator" concept at first, but after some thorough GM training, they are convinced it is the real deal. Also, your XLR should be running Mobil 1, so that also gives it that extra protection. I'm a firm believer in keeping your oil maintained as the best preventative maintenance you can do for your car. My DTX has 170,000 miles on it and my XLR has over 144,000 miles on it.
Free oil changes with Mobil 1... sounds like a very good deal when you can get it.

My dealer would do the changes when the light came on or at 1 year intervals, whichever came first.
