I've been chasing an intermittent (but getting more frequent) "no fob detected message" in my DD '08 XLR for months. The manual shift feature was also affected. I couldn't just grab a downshift from drive without upshifting first, then downshifting. All of the standard fob remedies such as batteries, changing fobs were tried to no avail.
I searched for hours on the interwebs and stumbled across a mention of potential interference from an iPhone charger. Hmmm, I bought one a few months ago. So I unplugged my (aftermarket) iPhone charger from the console and viola, no more no fob messages. The charger was apparently interfering with the fob receiver, phone plugged in or not.
