My XLR/V(s)
2006 Black XLR
Good afternoon, I am coming to you all from frigid Kentucky! I just picked my 2006 XLR up about 2 weeks ago. It had folding top module issues that I am trying to source another module so I can fully enjoy the XLR experience!!

Welcome aboard, from frigid NH, where it was -7 degrees in the south part of the city. LOL

Welcome.
Are you sure it's the module, has anyone tried to do a re-learn with a Tech2. If not, I would do that before I spent too much money on a new module.

Justdennis- I don't have any communication with the module (with me Tech 2). I checked module for power (which I do have). I just can't get the module to communicate at all. I'm going to check corrosion and green crusties when it warms up in my garage a little bit. Any other tests you can suggest, I'm game!

So, using my tech2, when I go to "Body" - "Folding top module" I get 5 options, 1-DTC, 2-Data Display, 3-Special Functions, 4-Snapshot, 5-Module ID. If I understand you correctly when you go to Body and click on Folding top module it does nothing. I don't have much experience with this system but if you do have corrosion on the connections it doesn't sound good. I think you're on the right track by cleaning all the connections and checking grounds, I have solved some problems just by doing that. There are some very knowledgeable members on this site hopefully someone will have more information then I and can help. Let me know what you find.

justdennis- actually when I go there and click on any of those options, I get the error of no communication with module, please turn ignition on. When I run a scan on the entire car, out of the 23 modules, it lists no communication with the folding top module and the Steering Column Lock (which our cars do not have). I am assuming I have crusty wiring causing no communication, or the module is DOA.

That would be my guess also, especially if you have evidence of water (past or present) in the area where the Top module is located. I would clean all those connections and also check connections in the fuse block area, including the fuse block into the base. That just cost your time, replacing the module will lighten your wallet some, rule out the cheap stuff first.
