Help! 2004 XLR FOB

Hey Everyone,

I recently purchased a 2004 XLR and there was only one remote/FOB. The vehicle was maintained at a Cadillac dealer (10 page Carfax with documented oil change and recommended maintenance) and this pasts November it was serviced and the owner requested two new remotes, but the service documentation stated that they could not program the new remotes (so there was not charge and they kept the remotes).

Has anyone else heard of this or have any information on getting new Remote?

Well first off the dealer could not get new remotes. they have been all gone for two years or so.Used are 400-600$ on ebay. However you can buy the later style square ones with the bumper key inside for 100$ or so. much better fob.They are for 2006/7-2013 vette or xkr depending on wbere you get them. They work. The dealer will look up the part number and it shows 04-06 fob number. They will claim the later wont work. They will dozens of people have programmed them. If the dealer kept them reach out to the owner to get them. Im sure he paid for them
