You have only part of the magnet removed. Put the bolts back in partially and remove the rest. If you dont leave te bolts in loose you will break the vvt

Ok im reading top is down as in open and stored. the center latch should not be reading at that point . the switch in the windshield headder where the pin drops down also should not be reading when the top is open but is known to turn the light on if bad and the top is closed. And as you said...

Might check that none of the potentiometer s are loose. Theycould have the drive pin worn. Read the values of them with the scanner and write it down check it to see if it changes. The secure light can come on for any of them being bad but not usually when its down only when its latched.
