I just traded in a car I’ve owned 5 years (NOT my XLR!!!). It’s had 3 warranty repairs (minor), some things checked that came back with the dreaded “could not duplicate” or “that’s normal,” & had all oil changes/tire rotations done at the dealer (except the last one). The car was reliable & not a problem child, I just traded it because it was the best time & deal.

Out of curiosity I checked the Carfax on it. It shows ONLY that it passed state inspection every year.

Reinforces the lesson for a used car to try to get service records &/or have your own mechanic check it out.

carfax only picks up things that dealers or shops submit. They hardly ever pick up collison first part accidents and almost never if yo uare hit by someone else at fault does that information find its way to carfax. Owners would sue more for depreciation if all the good stuff showed up.
