The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Important: Do NOT replace parts for this condition. Always reference published diagnostics and the latest revision of TSB 03-08-67-008 when diagnosing any trunk or folding top concerns.
This blank value is caused by a Tech2 software malfunction and has nothing to do with the function or operation of the vehicle. The data is NOT needed to diagnose folding top or trunk concerns, it is only a calculated value determined from other Tech2 values displayed within the same Inputs data list. The use of existing data will allow proper diagnosis.
To work around this blank data value, use the following Folding Top Module, Inputs data parameters:
Rear Tonneau Position Sensor
Rear Tonneau Open Reference Position
Rear Tonneau Close Reference Position
These three parameters are displayed in Counts from 0 - 255. Below are three examples of how to determine what the Rear Tonneau Status is. The specific count values below are examples only and in no way indicate a specific value that should be seen on any given vehicle.
Note: Open (Retracted) and Closed (Extended) values will vary from vehicle to vehicle. The following values are provided for demonstration / example purposes only.
In this example, the Status will be Mid whenever the Sensor counts are between, or in the middle of, the Open and Close Reference values.
Rear Tonneau Status Mid.
Rear Tonneau Position Sensor 150 Counts
Rear Tonneau Open Reference Position 188 Counts
Rear Tonneau Close Reference Position 112 Counts
In this example, the Status will be Retracted whenever the Sensor Counts are equal to or greater than the Open Reference value.
Rear Tonneau Status Retracted
Rear Tonneau Position Sensor 191 Counts
Rear Tonneau Open Reference Position 188 Counts
Rear Tonneau Close Reference Position 112 Counts
In this example, the Status will be Extended whenever the Sensor Counts are equal to or less than the Close Reference value.
Rear Tonneau Status Extended
Rear Tonneau Position Sensor 109 Counts
Rear Tonneau Open Reference Position 188 Counts
Rear Tonneau Close Reference Position 112 Counts
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
