The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some customers may comment on unwanted horn activation. Removing the Horn Relay in the UBEC will disable the Horn. Further inspection of the relay and UBEC may show water intrusion. This is typically caused by "power washing" the engine compartment.
Remove the horn relay and allow the UBEC and relay to dry. Do Not drive the vehicle or return the vehicle to the customer without a functional horn. Once the relay and UBEC appear to be dry, reinstall the HORN relay and the concern should be eliminated.
Note: It is not recommended that high pressure washers be used to clean under hood. If the customer insists upon using a power washer, advise the customer that extreme care should be used to avoid any electrical components or connections in order to prevent compromising the integrity of the electrical sealing system(s).
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
