The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
- Condition/Concern:
-
A customer or dealer technician may notice a difference in audio levels when switching between favorites/presets and/or bands. After observing the concern it may be noticed that the concern is happening when going between AM/FM, CD, and/or XM bands.
- Recommendation/Instructions:
-
Important: Before replacing any components, review the following conditions.
- Verify that the equalizer settings are all set to the same levels for each band when comparing audio differences as when storing the stations it may also store the EQ settings. The increased or decreased bass and treble settings will enhance the level of noticed change.
- Try multiple CD’S; this may be normal due to variations in the CD/MP3 burning process with commercially or consumer produced disc’s.
If the concern changes with either of the above conditions, this is normal and no parts should be replaced for this concern.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
